AG Gonzales Has His Libby Moment --Insert name: Sampson LINK
www.tpmmuckraker.com

" Now, Sampson resigned yesterday, the Post reports, "after acknowledging that he did not tell key Justice officials about the extent of his communications with the White House, leading them to provide incomplete information to Congress."

In other words, Sampson, Gonzales' chief of staff, unbeknownst to other Justice Department officials, kept all this to himself. A rogue operator within the Justice Department, right under Gonzales' chin!

A little background on Sampson: he had worked earlier with Gonzales as deputy White House counsel from 2001 through 2003. He then moved on to the Justice Department as a counselor to then-AG John Ashcroft, moving up to become chief of staff in September 2005.

It's unclear whether Sampson will be made available to congressional investigators now that he's resigned."

****************
Playing the role of Scooter Libby is Kyle Sampson, and reprising the role of Dick Cheney is Alberto Gonzales. The insider conspiracy plot line is the same. Sampson will be offered up as a scapegoat to protect the higherups.

The difference here is that Alberto has already testified under oath before Congress to a lie. Can Gonzales wriggle out of perjury charges by claiming he did not know what his own Chief of Staff was doing?

I see Gonzales resigning and hiring his own criminal counsel, maybe not in that order.

Guest stars are Harriet Miers and Karl Rove. Supporting characters include Senators Pete Domenici and Heather Mills.

Very Special Guest who will fight any appearance before the Congressional Committees is President George W. Bush - who personally passed on to Gonzales the desires of Republicans to can US Attorneys who did not toe the Republican political line.

Further testimony from fired US Attorneys who had their reputations trashed by this Administration will continue to provide more condemnation as the parties weave additional lies to try and cover for previous lies and wrongful actions.

This will be just one of many scandals headed down the pike, but should be a good one.

I just bet Georgie Boy does not sleep so well at night now, not because he is worried about the troops he condemned to death, but because his own corruption is about to be exposed publicly on a daily basis.

5. Don't forget, Fitzgerald 'owns' Karl Rove because of grand jury testimony....
Rove testified five(5) times before Fitzgerald's grand jury, the last three times at his own request to change his testimony previously given.

It is almost a certainty that Rove cut a deal with Fitzgerald to cooperate with prosecutors and testify if called as a witness in the Libby trial. THe only thing that would make sense is that Fitz is keeping Rove on ice as the net closes in on Cheney, where Rove could do real damage.

Bush cannot fire and make Rove resign because of what Rove knows about Bush, and his involvement in the Libby case and other matters. Better to keep Rove close and quiet to benefit Bush.

OF course Rove is still performing nasty political deeds while on a short leash to Fitzgerald. But I am betting that Rove will fight testifying before Congress under oath since any agreement with Fitzgerald would require Rove to testify truthfully to all matters under oath in order to get the benefit of the deal he struck with Fitz not to be indicted.

If Rove eventually testifies under oath before a Congressional Committee, the key will be whether the Committee will let him get by with an agreement that he will be only asked about certain matters and not others. Hope the Congressional Committee Chairs hold firm and do not offer Rove this as an escape hatch.

6. Hmmm .. it could be any of a cast of characters ....
Any media source who knew of this travesty and did not report it could fulfill the requirements of this role.

My top choice would be a Fox News source since putting one of them under oath would publicly reveal them as shills for this Administration, and their coordination with the WHite House to carry out its dastardly deeds.

7. When Gonzales Resigns, Look up the ladder to who he is protecting...
As Fitzgerald explained to the jury in the Libby case, you begin at the bottom and work your way up to the top.

IMHO Gonzales is gone .... he cannot spin, feign ignorance, or slip out of this one.

9. Oh my! Addington would be much worse than Gonzales --and likely Bush's pick!
When caught in a scandal and someone leaves this Administration, they always seem to find someone more despicable to replace them.

Other than being totally skewed in his interpretation of the constitution and the total lack of limits on executive power, can you think of a reason Addington would not be the perfect Bush nominee to take over for Gonzalez??

10. After Leahy ran into Gonzales earlier today, the timetable just speeded up....
... I am betting that Gonzales has already read the resignation speech that Karl Rove wrote for him.

This investigation is growing quickly, and the insiders know how explosive it is going to get.

Better to get AG Gonzales out of office quickly before the fireworks really take off.
