Large Revolt Inside Israel's IDF
http://www.workers.org/2007/world/idf-0315/

Almost 100 fighters of the Israel Defense Forces’ Battalion 51 of the Golani Brigade walked off the Tze’elim training base in southern Israel on March 1. The action has been described as one of the biggest revolts in IDF history. Eight soldiers from the battalion were killed by Hezbollah resistance fighters in Bint Jbeil, a small village in southern Lebanon, during the Israeli invasion in July 2006.

Golani soldiers have a long history of revolt. Smaller walkouts have occurred in the past. The IDF’s criminal history in occupied Palestine, Lebanon and other countries can only contribute to rebellion by rank-and-file soldiers.

This seems like it should be a big story. With the recent military failure in Lebanon and the turmoil inside the country, many analysts believe the country is indanger of internal political collapse.

1. Why what a great source
after bombing civilians and drinking their blood...

The IDF is not going to collapse. IF this event happened its significance is minimal.

Many analysts watch as the hezbolla government is starved by the international community.

3. agreed
This story must not be confused with an actual news report. It is clearly biased against the IDF, and can't be trusted as an honest look at what may be going on among the rank and file soldiers.

A quick Google search for "Israel army revolt" and "Israel army walkout" did not find any other stories about the incident reported in this story. While my searches were in no way exhaustive, this leads me to view this link with skepticism.

4. As it should be
Many analysts watch as the hezbolla government is starved by the international community.

Hezbollah is not a government it is an illegal militia that refuses to recognize or allow the sovreignity of the Lebanese government. Were it to wither away it would be a good thing. However that is not happening. With active support from Syria and Iran it has been resupplied and is rebuilding its military capability.

2. It seems they treat their soldiers as poorly as we are treating our own.

A revolt is certainly in the offing among our troops as well...

It also might be a contrivance to undermine/oust Olmert. There are those who would like to see him out. This story is from last year:

IDF ground forces chief ousted for remarks on Olmert, Halutz

By Amos Harel and Mazal Mualem, Haaretz Correspondents, and Haaretz Service

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Dan Halutz on Wednesday discharged the head of the IDF's ground forces over remarks he made calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Halutz.

Halutz told Major General Iftach Ron-Tal in a letter that he was being relieved of regular duty, a month before he was to retire, due to remarks he had made on the disengagement from Gaza and for the comments he had made against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert...cont'd
