3fer: a pants-off Shrub joke. KAPLAN/Couric/Clinton. GIBSON "best" anchor?

The joke is from the oldest wingnut named "Cindy", widow of comedian Joey ADAMS, swimmer in the cocktail circuit, hanger-on to BOTH the PATAKIs *and* the CUOMOs.

Why is it O.K. for Roger AILES/Faux to be a Rethug insider, and even be CONSULTED by the mal-Administration in the middle of campaigns, but wingnuts are whining about KAPLAN's being a CLINTON pal? Unfortunately, having seen so many of these so-called Dem-"friends" TURN, I won't be surprised if this one ALSO "over-compensates" by leaning over backward to the Wingnut side.

As for GIBSON being "the best of the 3" he's no Peter JENNINGS, and he always had a wingnut tinge.

FOB (and Hillary) sees no effect on 'CBS Evening News'

Can a friend of Bill's cover Hillary?

Absolutely, says new CBS Evening News chief Rick Kaplan, a pal of both Clintons' since 1974. He slept in the White House twice during Bill Clinton's administration.

"I don't think I've talked to them in a year," says Kaplan, formerly president of MSNBC. "They're definitely my friends, but I'm friends with John McCain, too. If you're around long enough, you get to know everybody.

"I've got a 38-year track record. I find it astounding that this is an issue for anyone since it's never come up in my career. There's no smoke there... . You could hoist me up and skewer me if there's any truth to that at all." ....

..."No one has ever tried to compromise my work by trading on a friendship," he says. "That would be the end of the friendship."

.... As good as Williams is, and much as I had high hopes for Couric, the truth is that Gibson is the best of the three evening anchors.

More than two years after succeeding Tom Brokaw, Williams comes across like he’s got something to prove. And Couric unwisely traded her natural affability for an overly restrained delivery.

Meanwhile, Gibson has succeeded by offering the sort of avuncular “voice-of-God” reassurance that CBS chief Leslie Moonves famously declared obsolete.....

While I don’t expect the relatively unproven Wallace to make big changes at Nightly News—where NBC News President Steve Capus will, no doubt, remain hands on—Kaplan will surely be a change agent at CBS.

That’s good news for Couric. Rome Hartman, the outgoing executive producer at Evening News, may have been well-liked in the newsroom. But Kaplan, who has worked with Ted Koppel, Peter Jennings and Diane Sawyer, has demonstrated a knack for curbing the excesses and getting the best work out of challenging talent like Couric. ....

although I understand the joke - I do have a problem with it...

Firstly: " Our Chief of State immediately pulled out a 3-by-5 white index card"

bush would have to REMEMBER he even had the card in his pocket, (this is assuming he was wearing something that had pockets - if not then assume he pulled it out of where most of his ideas are originated.)

Memory is a funny thing - bush and his the majority of his staff/cabinet etc have very poor memories. This is especially evident as they forget on a daily basis that we do have a constitution.

Secondly: "read it"
