Certainly it is wrong for a teacher to engage in such activity. Even if the student is a HS senior.

Because it is unethical. If you are a teacher, you should keep a distance between yourself and your students.

37. It is unethical not only because of the age but because of the power

the teacher has over the student.

When I was in high school, forty five years ago, there was a lot of such activity and we were in a small town and every one knew.

1) young male teacher with senior girl, he was fired and they later married.

2) female gym teacher with several of her female team members. Reported by one girl who she was pursuing, and teacher was asked to resign, and she went to another school where her behavior continued, and the action was repeated, etc. Much the same action was taken as was against the pedophile priests at that time and same excuse, must protect children from others knowing.

3) middle aged female english teacher was known to have the football team over to her house every year, where she took a bubble bath for their entertainment. Nothing ever done until she was co-sponsor of a club, and one night the other sponsor came in unexpectedly to one of their meetings and found an orgy going on. She was let go, and nobody knew why, except everybody knew because the club was disbanded and the members talked.

Oh, we also had the pedophile priest that was an alcoholic who would get drunk and play the chimes through out the nights sometimes. I won't go into the activities of the regular folk that we knew about because of my father being a minister. It was just your average small town in good ole USA.

I give no credence to HS rumors, of course. But the one
case I refer to was confirmed beyond doubt, and the teacher
was quietly fired without criminal charges being brought.

In my opinion, it's never acceptable.

The state I live in (Indiana) has 16 as the age of consent. But if the older person is in a position of authority--like a teacher--the age of consent is effectively 18. Pretty sensible law, I think.

I can't believe I'm defending the Indiana legislature! Remember, they're the ones who would have blatantly Christian prayers before sessions (and I am a devout Christian).

The law is worded such that it applies to those situations where there is an instititutional power differential that would include teacher/student but would also include other relationships--like maybe coach/athlete, youth pastor/congregant, minister/server, etc.

The possibility of sexual contact between a high school student and a teacher in my school was absolutely zero. If you had a different experience, you were in a different time or place, 'cause I'm sure about this one.

it sure made high school more interesting at times. But then again, I got out of gym due to an injury and to get away from my teacher who was going to make me shower in front of her. Not this baptist raised girl, especially when the other girls told me why.

29. It was a long time ago, in a relatively small (500) high school, and teachers

were never "hot." The lines in my home town were very clearly drawn between adults and kids, and until one was out of high school, one was a kid.

14. My best friend in HS was raped by a teacher

in another state when she was 15. She was too ashamed to tell anyone about it, not that it would've done any good. This happened in the early 60s when rape laws were property laws and complaining would have gotten her months of a defense attorney attacking her as already damaged property, something no 15 year old needs.

So yes, it goes on and on and on. At least people are finally noticing.

Why the HELL these people can't wait until the kid they're hot over graduates is beyond me.

The business teacher (male) and a female student married after she graduated. They were probably together beforehand, but they kept it on the down-low. As far as I know they're still together. There really wasn't that big an age difference between them though - 6 years at the most. He was a young teacher.

The vocal music teacher (hot blonde female) was rumored to have slept with a few senior boys. She left before I got up there, and I probably wouldn't have been on her list anyway. :)

45. My friend Jeff was getting frequent BJs from our English (male) teacher.
