Gonzales: Prosecutors firings mishandled
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales acknowledged that mistakes were made and accepted responsibility Tuesday for the way eight federal prosecutors were fired.

At a news conference Tuesday, Gonzales said he would find out what went wrong but said he would not resign. "I acknowledge that mistakes were made here. I accept that responsibility," Gonzales said amid growing calls for his own termination.

Democrats in Congress have charged that the eight dismissals announced last December were politically motivated and some of those fired have said they felt pressured by powerful Republicans in their home states to rush investigations of potential voter fraud involving Democrats.

This sounds just like Rummy's last stand, "I'm not going to resign, I'm not going to, you can't make me", but at least he kept a stiff upper lip, it seemed like Al was about to cry during the conference and it was really funny how he basically fled the room when he wanted it to be over.

2. I hope Dems stick together on this call to fire Gonzales. I remember too well how most Dems
especially the bigname Dems, left Kerry hanging on his THREE calls for Rumsfeld to go in 2003 and 2004. Even with Kerry, Dean, Clark and Kennedy calling for Rumsfeld's job, too many Dem lawmakers stood with Bush and wouldn't make that wave.

4. Yeah, I wish they could understand the power they hold when they stick together
and this should be a no brainer, I swear.

6. Good news - Dean called for firings, too. Now THAT is how a DNC chair should
act in support of Dem lawmakers.

3. Maybe they should have given them a farewell dinner.
It was a dirty deal and there is no way to cover it up.

5. I predicted these exact words:
"...I acknowledge that mistakes were made here. I accept that responsibility..."

Gee, how did I manage that? I must be psychic!

Let me guess - he failed to mention any CONSEQUENCES for his responsibility.

I think I'm gonna embark on a life of crime. Whenever I get caught, I'll just tell the judge "I accept responsibility" and then he'll let me go. Just think how rich I could get from that approach!
