1. he was a dick but he had some good points when it came to women voters which
i for one appreciated. He is still a conservative and he loves his religeon but i could have smacked him for cutting off Klein so much.

my wife and i were screaming at him the whole show..talk about someone who is in love with himself and all his points (which are much more important than anyone elses). Did you see the look on naomi kleins face...if that show had been another 1/2 hour she would have either told him to shut up or walked out....i am very sorry he comandered the show and we missed out on more naomi...willIam didnt make much sense at all!!

10. I agree
He monopolized the program and Maher let him get away with it. And willIam seemed out of his element. He struggled for something to say, but unfortunately came up short.

BTW - Welcome to DU, halfstep!:hi:

8. Sullivan represents a segment of british journalism that still...
thinks that we murikans are still savages that could benefit from their long historic and prolific grasp of civilization.

He forgets, as ignorant as we are, we still remember their tyrannical history of their imposed colonization on France, Germany, Ireland, "US", Australia, India, Algeria, Moracco, South Africa and most every other part of the globe at some point in it's history.

FUCK Andrew Sullivan, the british aristocracy and all those that still wish for "Rule Brittania".

Just fuck 'em.

3. Klein had him cold beat on the "capitalist purity" argument as well
He sounds like one of those guys who explain that the Soviet Union wasn't really communist after all (hey, I'm one of those guys). Sullivan said "When you read Adam Smith..." It could just as easily be said "When you read Karl Marx..."

4. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but he'll be back. I guarantee it.
Maher likes having him on. He's a frequent guest and the things Bill likes about him were on full display tonight. Sullivan is, in many ways, what McCain pretends to be - a man who thinks for himself and doesn't toe anyone's party line. I disagree with him on most things and he infuriates me nearly every time I see him, but he's not a thug, not a mindless GOPsuck. In fact, as much as I know he will piss me off, I still will make a point of watching when he's on because I know it will be as interesting as it is infuriating.

6. Agreed
different points of view are welcome with me...as long as they are rational.

which automatically eliminates most Republican talking heads.

and he can have two conservatives on with her. That would be a show.

12. I sometimes enjoy Sullivan.
He was quite rude tonight though. I agree somewhat with his view on religion - that he's a secularist when it comes to politics. I totally agree with his opinion of Palin. He called her a sham & proof that McCain is unfit! I hope there are Republicans listening to him. I completely disagree with him on blaming the American people for this crisis. Even if that's partly true, where the hell is our bail out? Klein kicked his arrogant butt on that issue!

18. I thought he had a good point about Maher and religion.
Bill always groups ALL religious people into the same fundie lump. It's funny to me that he holds his opinions on religion in the same way that a lot of religious people do...rigidly.

20. I'm not religious, but I thought Will I Am had the best take
on faith. His point that his grandmother's faith was what gave her the strength to raise him and give him a chance was dismissed by Maher. It was a valid and interesting point. Maher responded that "it's your talent". He didn't recognize what Will was saying about how another person's faith had the secondary effect of providing him with the confidence and impetus to succeed.

21. I'm Christian. Will I Am was fantastic, quiet not pushy
I thought it was a good show. Sully was belligerent with people that agreed with him but maybe that's just Sully.

The part on religion was excellent. I agree with Maher on alot of politics although he is very sexist and anti-Jesus.

Will I Am was so sweet and really kind to Maher trying to explain things aren't just a role of the dice but there's love and prayers of a grandmother and the mercy of the Lord. It was worth just to see that verbal exchange. Maybe it'll get Maher thinking a little deeper about things of the spirit.

22. Yes, Sullivan was terrible as a guest. He ruined the show.
He took the show on one of his conservative issues. He's seeing that his economic philosophy is full of holes, but through cognitive dissonance, he retains his ability to mouth the same drivel he's been spouting since he read his first Ayn Rand book.
