That's it I'm writing Lou Dobbs off
Jackass just now talked about replacement of all US attorneys when Clinton assumed the presidency, without bothering to mention that Junior did this too when he assumed office in January 2001. And without bothering to say that this is SOP when all new administrations take over. And without bothering to point out that the recent midterm firings of US attorneys with rightwing idealogues is vastly different. He knows the difference for sure.

Dobbs has for some time been working real hard to appear to be nonpartisan. If he had covered the Tate murders I'm sure he would have 'balanced' his reporting with plenty of views of Charles Manson.

I've noticed that when he talks about security issues he never mentions the time his wife was caught trying to smuggle a handgun onto a plane. If any of you had tried that you would have been locked up. Funny how you never heard about her getting sent off to Gitmo.

He's a total media whore, fanning the flames of dissent against illegal aliens just to enrich himself. I'm not going to watch his propaganda any more.

2. Like most human beings Lou Dobb's opinions are multifaceted.
Sure Dobbs says several things that are seemingly KoolAid drinking Republican. However, Clinton did, via Reno, fire all Attorneys when he came into office. That is legal. What Gonzales was trying to escape was "Congressional Approval" by his piece meal firing of eight of them.

Everyone I know has some opinions that are divergent than mine but I don't write the whole person off IF I respect their credibility.

I think, among media whores, Lou Dobbs ranks higher than most, i.e., he's genuine and consistently a hair to the right on the political scale.

3. Lou Dobbs is a dumbass. He repeats uncritically an assload of right-wing
lies (remember Pelosi's plane?).

He's a pseudo-populist attention whore.

4. So...How Many People Here Have Stopped Turning Off MSNBC After Countdown?
Edited on Tue Mar-13-07 05:38 PM by OrangeCountyDemocrat
I know there are plenty of folks who insist on making a solid block of Softball, Countdown & Killer Joe's Country.

For me, it's still 1 Hour of Countdown, and then off it goes. Unlike those here who continue to be fooled by a day, week or even a month of responsible journalism, I realize where the hearts and minds of these so-called newsmen are.

If you're still watching ANYTHING other than Countdown, and expecting some sort of liberal media bias....or even a lack of bias, you're WASTING YOUR TIME!!

17. I actually stumbled across Lou Dobbs while channel flipping
I used to watch his show but got out of the habit.

Some people can handle Tweety but I just can't get over the bizarre things he's said, like how great Junior looks in his cowboy costume. Freaked me out. But lately I've been leaving it on sometimes when Killer Joe comes on. He might be coming in from the cold. Maybe he's seen the light.

19. for the most part
CNN & MSNBC are brief pauses while channel surfing, or a quick flip while a commercial is on another station

glad to hear KO will be on at 7pm starting next week sometime... I go to bed at stupid o'clock and get up at insane o'clock so I usually miss his shows...

5. This is certainly intentional. Smart people know better. So the only explanation is that they
making an effort to pretend they don't get what the fuss is about.

6. Ironic, my husband & I said the same thing when we heard Lou's
comment about Clinton. He failed to mention that these US Attorneys that GW/AG wanted to get rid of were Republicans! They weren't playing ball like GW/AG wanted them to. Yes, there is a difference.

No more Lou for us!

7. The key is replacing them without Senate confirmation.
At the beginning of a term, the president may do a wholesale replace of US Attorneys, but their replacements have to be confirmed by the Senate.

When US Attorneys are replaced during the term, the replacement used to have to be confirmed by the Senate to be permanent replacements.

The differenc eis that * and his cronies made the change in the Patriot Act that allows them to replace US Attorneys with permanent replacements that do not ever have to undergo Senate confirmation.

That's the key difference.

15. No, that's only part of it
The term for a US attorney is 4 years. It is customary for a new administation to replace them all. It is unusual but not unheard of for them to be replaced in the middle of a 4 year term. It was unacceptable for the one in New Mexico to be replaced because of refusal to fast track an indictment of a Democrat in order to help a Republican opponent in the 2004 election.

These unusual midterm replacements are not the same as when Clinton replaced them all at the beginning of his administration, and they are not the same as when Junior replaced them all when he assumed the presidency in 2001.

The new provision that was slipped into the Partiot Act by Sampson and Senate Judiciary Committee staffers is not the only key difference.

Faux noise has been screaming that not one Liberal media outlet mention this, not one, and if they arent talking about how big and bad Clinton was, they are saying Scooter is a hero and needs to be pardoned, and he was prescuted by the big bad dems.

11. Sometimes Lou reminds me of Eyeore from Winnie the Pooh.
Before the midterm elections he would say, "Ohhw, ohhw, those do-nothing Republicans".

Then, three weeks after the election, he was saying, "Ohhw, ohhw, those Democrats aren't keeping their promises".

And I wish he would cut back a little bit on the phrase "I am outraged at....whatever!"

But I think you get the best perspective by watching and listening to everyone.

21. I turned off ALL cable news
Edited on Wed Mar-14-07 08:30 AM by tibbiit
April 9, 2003 after having it on all the time.
I miss countdown, but see the best of's on you tube or crooks and liars.
This way my blood pressure doesnt shoot thru the roof.
April 9th was the day Saddams statue was pulled down by the huge orgasmic crowd and orgasmed over by the Wolf BLitzers of the cable news orgs. The problem was the BBC showed the real event... which I happened to catch... thus our decision to off all Cable news. (actually we dont watch any news except local, and of course daily show and colbert)

Plenty of people still allow them (lou dobbs, tweety etc) to shit on their living room floors on a daily basis.

Turn that shit off, you wont regret it.
rant off
tib

22. I thought it was a guest who brought that up
and not Dobbs. Regardless, I know Dobbs has racist tendencies that I noticed during his Katrina coverage, but I honestly think he has improved over the past year or two. I think the issues he brings up regarding trade and the economy are crucial and account for a lot of the new votes we got last fall. Regarding the Clinton lawyer thing, Clinton has been out of office for many years--I think the American people are getting to the point where its no longer about partisan-passes but about holding all elected officials to some sort of standard.

23. No, it was Lou and no guest was with him at the time.
He was clearly trying to create an impression that it's the same thing Democrats have done, and I'm sure he is aware that it is not. He invented something negative to say about Democrats so he could look all bipartisany and everything. x(

Not cool.
