Iraqi Traveler With Butt Device Faces Deportation
a stress-fighting butt device? on his way to vegas? hmmm....

http://cbs2.com/topstories/local_story_072085806.html

AP) LOS ANGELES An Iraqi immigrant who was found to have a suspicious device lodged in his rectum last week at LAX now faces deportation after immigration agents discovered two violent convictions in his past.

Immigration agents reviewing Fadhel Al-Maliki's case say they've found he had been convicted in the past for domestic violence and for possession of an illegal weapon.

Those convictions violate the terms of his status as a permanent U.S. resident and make him subject to deportation.

Al-Maliki triggered the alert during a screening for a flight to Philadelphia. The FBI says he told screeners about the device he was carrying, which he said he used to fight stress.

Officials say the device had a wire and what may have been a magnet.

The find led to the diversion of a Philadelphia-bound jet carrying his checked luggage to Las Vegas.

1. Fortunately, the shit didn't hit the fan.

I'm surprised they're shoving him back to Iraq; not put into Gitmo...? Sounds very suspicious if you ask me; anti-stress devices are typically tablets that dissolve in the stomach. Not homemade contraptions used as mock suppositories...

Forgive me, my flippancy. There is precious little TO joke about. :(

4. The TSA knows the difference...
He could have easily checked it, but I think he wanted to see if he could get this aboard an aircraft.

7. "pack it the normal way"?
I do believe it was packed in a normal way.

After TSA came onto the scene, I used to travel with a HUGE dildo in my carry-on just to see what they would do.

They never once pulled it out.

And I am the straightest-looking guy you have ever seen.

But I did get some weird looks.

9. a medical device perhaps...?
there are still people who believe all that magnet based healing quackery.

http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/NWS_2_1x_Attracting_Attention.asp

According to a press release issued by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in March 1994, "Pressure dots with tiny magnets affixed to adhesive strips and worn over the arthritic area are promoted for curing arthritis; a magnet in men's briefs is purported to cure impotence; and a magnet used as a suppository is promoted for curing hemorrhoids...

although i tend to believe that he may have been part of a test to see what/how things or components may be able to be smuggled aboard an aircraft.

3. Somebody testing security?
And sending in their dumbest people first to see what they can get away with? I'm sure the TSA knows the difference between a dildo and a "butt device" with magnets and a wire - they see hundreds of sex toys a day in baggage, so if there's something they find odd, I tend to believe it.

6. If you are sitting next to someone you don't know...
on an airplane that is not yours.

And your seat begins to vibrate.

Call Homeland Security.

And they will deport him and his vibrating butt-plug.
