Gonzolaws' Grand Slam: The Grand Illusion, Dana Milbank
Edited on Tue Mar-13-07 10:15 PM by BuyingThyme
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/13/AR2007031301515.html

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales faced the cameras for all of nine minutes yesterday, but he managed to contradict himself at least four times...

"Mistakes were made," he said in fluent scandalese, but "I think it was the right decision."

"I am responsible for what happens at the Department of Justice," he posited, but "I . . . was not involved in any discussions about what was going on."

"Kyle Sampson" -- Gonzales's chief of staff -- "has resigned," he said, but "he is still at the department."

"I believe in the independence of our U.S. attorneys," Gonzales maintained, but "all political appointees can be removed . . . for any reason."

Home run!!!

18. Like his boss
What do you expect from a lawyer and an MBA. I heard a good
one last night: Why doesn't a vampire suck lawyer's blood?
Professional courtesy. One can never expect a Republican to
tell the truth. From Reagan, through Bush I, to Bush II,
nothing but lies.

25. SORRY!
How could I forget. I lived through these 'exciting' times. This is probably the last time that the NYT and WAPO were real newspapers and not water carriers for the Republicans. And the last time that Woodward was a real journalist. But, thank God for the blogs.

31. After all this mis-administration has done
unethically, criminally and downright fraudulently, I'm beginning to believe Nixon's mistakes were tiny and only related to getting re-elected, not affecting the rights of the people. I agree with John Dean that this is FAR WORSE than Watergate!

34. I agree... I don't remember if I was before, same or after Dean
but I was stating that Bush is worse than his daddy, Reagan and Nixon. But his daddy was a poor excuse of a father.

for every Rethug to face the music.
A time for oaths;
A time for truth;
A time for hand cuffs,
And orange jump suits.
For every Rethug
There is a cellmate
To make them honest
And squeal like pigs. ("Deliverance" was a wonderful portrayal of Bush voters.)
A time to toss salad,
And blame Bill Clinton
For Satanic connections.

All right, it's bad, but at least I tried.

I just love the way the conseratives are all saying that it's ok, because Clinton did it too.

For the last 15 years, they have talked about the Clintons as evil incarnate, now suddenly President Clinton is their guide when it come to morality and ethics.

WHat a bunch of slimeballs!

29. They should move to Dubai and create their own country.
I wish that Bush, Cheney, Gonzales, Rove, Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity, Rice, Rumsfeld, and all their sympathizers, as well as their corporate lovers (Halliburton, etc), and their mercenary army would all move to Dubai. They, along with Michael Jackson who is already there, can start their own system of government. They have to break all ties with the USA: no more sham government contracts, no more war profiteering, no more pensions or lucrative payoffs.

The rest of us, who still believe in the Constitution, can get back to running the country. First of all, we will hold legitimate elections with paper ballots, NO diebold machines. We can work to bring home our servicemen and women from Iraq, reinvest in our schools, infrastructure and health care institutions here at home, begin to reconnect with the rest of the world through diplomacy, invest in alternative energy sources to wean ourselves off of foreign oil, change laws to reinstitute independence and truth in the media, etc.

Ahh, what a wonderful country it would be. Let's see which country would be targeted by "terrorists" then.

35. Gonzales must resign NOjW
Alberto Gonzales must resign now. He has demonstrated his incompetence in his most recent press conference! He contradicts himself. If he is able to handle everything that is going on in his department then he was aware of all decisions OR if the opposite is true he is NOT ABLE to handle his department but he still thinks the decisions were correct then he is STILL INCOMPETENT!!!

The only possibility is that still TAKES ORDERS FROM HIGHER UP! He is not make any decisions just following orders. That show such incompetence that our entire judicial system is in jeopardy of failure. There needs to be someone competent in this position.

The next person needs to be approved by congress.

But Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), giving the news conference with Schumer, was not so bloodthirsty. "I'm more reserved, in general, than my colleague over here is," she said of Schumer, who wore a tie featuring pigs, eggs and turtles.

It is not healthy for fat old farts to read stuff like this while drinking coffee.
