So - as our soldiers die in Iraq, do you suppose that, on their dying bed,
they will take time to reflect upon which version of the "non-binding opposition statement to the surge" they appreciated the most? As a country that has not been asked at all to participate in this "war" through sacrifice of any sort, we seem to now think that words are all of the action that is needed. Republican politicians are surely more "guilty" in terms of aiding and abetting the disasters of the past 6 years, but NO politicans of any stripe in Washington have a pass at all for being so complicit. And we now have to endure the third (McInane - whoops, McCain's) version of a statement that "doesn't offend the president" or "is too sharp in its tone" as its sole action in opposition to the crime of sending thousands of soldiers needlessly into harm's way - to fight a war that we chose for no good reason at all.
