because the alternative for a bush crime family made-man who disappoints is "sleeping with the fishes."

6. Gonzales will step down, sooner rather than later, a move that

will attempt to douse the flames. The notion of weeks and weeks of investigation and hearings on the Hill would be politically undoing, even for the Bush White House.

We'll likely hear about Dubya's famous "loyalty" to his political chums, but Gonzales is doing no Republican any favors by refusing to resign.

The hearings, plus the press nosing around here and there, are more likely to produce more damning info, not less. This is a hot fire. Gonzales is used to manipulations from behind the scenes. He seems a lot less sure-footed when the focus is on him directly.

... head off further investigations and problems, I think there is a good chance he will jettison Gonzo. We shall see.
