Even Miles O'Solidad scoffed and commented that it kind of makes you wonder what's been going with him since they caught him -- he didn't specifically suggest that perhaps they simply tortured him until he confessed to everything but the Lindbergh baby kidnapping, but it was pretty clear what he meant.

'"Said" to confess,' confesses the NYTs headline. "Said" by whom? "Said" by the Pentagon, of course! "Said" indeed by a written transcript from the ever-so-straightforward USDOD. In fact, the quote attributed to Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (“I was responsible for the 9/11 operation, from A to Z”) sounds more like the quintessential Donald Rumsfeld (" .. and north, and east, and south and west ..") than an al Qaeda mastermind.
