5. There sure was/is in freeperville...
They're still in denial. They think Rove is somehow protected by separation of powers -- idiots don't understand that Rove is just an appointee, and has no such grant of immunity.

I hope not, and as for freeperville... they are like their masters. God forbid they accept a bit of reality.

16. From what I read yesterday, it does not
I hope I'm not wrong. Greater constitutional minds than mine will offer some insight, I hope.

Since he is merely an appointee, supposedly he cannot claim any kind of executive privilege...he's not an "executive." And he's even lower on the totem pole since Bush shuffled the deck chairs a while back. Might have been a bad move by Chimpy.

32. they drag it into the Supreme court, like Cheney Energy meeting bullshit
but it would be a stupid move because it would drag out the issue for months, if not a year, further dragging the Bush administration and forcing Rove to come up with "distractions" on a weekly, if not, daily basis.

Gee whiz! They have a ways to go to get to the opinion we've had for years.

Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 10:06 AM by Atman
He had to get approval of the JC to proceed. They just voted on it this morning. Now the subpoena-issuing starts, and he said, unequivocally, that he WOULD call Karl, and make him testify UNDER OATH if refuses to come in voluntarily.

Here's a link and video of Leahy's remarks to Wolfie yesterday.

15. I'm assuming Rove's name will be on one of the subpoenas?
Question: Rove is a political adviser, not an appointed or elected official.
Executive privilege to avoid testifying would be a stretch and seems to me to be a non-starter for an excuse.

But what about issue of confidentiality? Something along the lines of attorney-client / doctor-patient? Could it be successfully argued that as a political adviser Rove's discussions are privileged?

back to the Executive privilege cloak - couldn't it be argued that while Rove is not elected/appointed - his conversations with officials who were appointed/elected are privileged?

hate to rain on a parade - but I'm trying to figure out which hole these weasels will use to hide the truth

22. The sun just came out
No, seriously. the forecast for the NE today and tomorrow were very grim and the sun has not been making much of a fuss here either. Today the sky was gray and the spitting rain had already begun.

Then, this announcement was made and I'll be damn if the sun didn't make an appearance just then! Big, bold, bright, and promising a beautiful day ... even if it does give way to rain and snow later today. It made it's statement and I heard it loud and clear.

What a beautiful expression of support from the heavens.

:woohoo:

26. The Arrogance Factor. Rove guided all of them. Dis-Reality =
Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 10:22 AM by higher class
Rove guided all of them - WH Justice Repub Congress. Manipulation of truth Strategy hem. Lying plans - Roved guided all of them. Coaching, tutoring, and managing Kg. Bush. Trips, words, posture, props, prepping - all led by ROve.

He used to (and still does?) take orders from the other Mr. Arrogant - Cheney.

Gonzales - arrogant by his lying and manipulative conniving to provide the PNAC team with everything they needed and everything Rove needed.

If one, two, or three of them must go, a Gonzales replacement is the only one subject to a vote by Senate.

Is there anyone else as Rovian as Rove?

Surely McCain will be named to replace Cheney?

The three most important people are sitting on that wall with a very thin shell around them.

The only other scenario - Cheney to Pres, Legislature kicked out, martial law in.

35. From the Yahoo article - no Rove yet
The committee also postponed for a week a vote on whether to authorize subpoenas of top aides to President Bush who were involved in the eight firings, including political adviser Karl Rove, former White House Counsel Harriet Miers and deputy White House Counsel William K. Kelley.

The committee approved subpoena power over key Justice Department officials involved in the firings: Michael Elston, Kyle Sampson, Monica Goodling, Bill Mercer and Mike Battle.

Sampson, Gonzales' chief of staff, quit this week. Elston is staff chief to Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty and Mercer is associate attorney general. Goodling is Gonzales' senior counsel and White House liaison, and Battle is the departing director of the office that oversees all 93 U.S. attorneys.

Gonzales has said he would allow the aides still at the Justice Department to testify voluntarily. It was unclear whether Sampson would agree to tell his story without a subpoena.

BTW, there are a few reports on the web, now.

http://news.google.com/news?ie=UTF-8&q=rove+subpoena&btnG=Search

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=politics&id=5126728

http://freeinternetpress.com/story.php?sid=10907

And, this should surprise no one, the national version of the evil rodent empire network is going after the "Clinton did it, too" line:

http://newsbusters.org/node/11452

(Yeah, I know that first link was ABC, but it's a LOCAL outlet, less subject to the will of their evil rodent masters and probably couldn't hide the truth any more, anyway.)
