Ruh-Roh... LA Times article is gonna reignite Obama is Muslim echo machine

The LA Times this morning published an article on Obama's time in Indonesia, "As a child, Obama crossed a cultural divide in Indonesia."

His former Roman Catholic and Muslim teachers, along with two people who were identified by Obama's grade-school teacher as childhood friends, say Obama was registered by his family as a Muslim at both of the schools he attended.

That registration meant that during the third and fourth grades, Obama learned about Islam for two hours each week in religion class.

The childhood friends say Obama sometimes went to Friday prayers at the local mosque. "We prayed but not really seriously, just following actions done by older people in the mosque. But as kids, we loved to meet our friends and went to the mosque together and played," said Zulfin Adi, who describes himself as among Obama's closest childhood friends.

It's actually kind of an interesting article. I don't believe he was ever a muslim and even if so it would make no difference. I do think it's important to have an understanding of other religions and cultures so all in all it's a plus.

1. I do believe that the Quran says even in a mixed-religion family between Muslims/Adherents

of something else, the children should be able to learn about Islam.

2. I teach at a Catholic high school, and we require all students to take our

religion courses. even the non-Catholic ones. There is a "World Religions" class senior year, but by then they'll pretty pretty well versed in the Catholic thing.

My point is, How is Obama's experience any different?

Upon reflection, I guess one difference is that he was in elementary school. However his parents may have registered him, he was in no position to make any meaningful declaration of his own.

But I also agree that it shouldn't make any difference.

Now it all makes sense! Obama opposed our brave effort to go to Iraq and carry the fight to "THEM" before "THEY" could hit us again. No doubt, the Islamic school where he learned to push for Jihad made a lasting impression. He is one of "THEM!"

Clearly, we must elect only white 'Christians' who believe in God and send their children to Jesus Camp. No ungodly, hateful religious indoctrination goes on there!

5. Since being a Mormon is a "different" religion

why are the republicans harping on that. I believe that a person's religion is a personal thing. We all know that Obama is not a Muslim his faith is Roman Catholic.

I think that what should happen is everytime some of the false and lying articles are posted in the newspapers the person the article lies about should instantly instigate a lawsuit. They should start slapping lawsuit after lawsuit on these people. Maybe then they would have facts to back up what the print. They just pull fabrications out of the air to slam and slur.

When the news story about bush and his cut and run stint during the Viet Nam came out, the news caster got fired, in a round about way, and congress wanted a full fledged investigation. But the republican owned media is allowed to post any lie or scam about a democrat they want and nothing is said.

6. Oh my, this is just terrible.

I was born into a baptist family, and I went to church four to five times a week until I was eighteen. So I must be a baptist no matter what I have done since. Although my family considers me pretty much an infidel, I must still be a baptist. I don't practice the faith and never attend church, but I must still be a baptist. I'm for free-choice, same sex couples having the right to marry, evolution, and believe that organized religion is wrong, but I must still be a baptist?

Wow, I've got to go rethink my whole way of being, now that I know that no matter what I am still a baptist. Better quit using those curse words first of all. :sarcasm:

he kept strange pets, crocodiles, a turtle as big as a cookie tin and an ape named Tata.... (tata's get it? a porn ape!)

Gasp, he also played soccer, which is very popular in France, you know.
