Senate Iraq Resolutions - Gregg (R-NH) Resolution Passes (PERPETUAL WAR! Vietnam Redux Continues...)
Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 04:15 PM by Hissyspit
Yea 82, Nay 16

Prohibits cuts in funding for U.S. troops.

Reid said he wouldn't support it and voted no. Reid resolution was defeated 48-50. Murray resolution on soldier care passed 96-2.

As JannyK reported in another thread: Gregg said "It's really simple. If you support the troops you MUST support this amendment" Amendment states NO cut in funding. Reid said no caucus - dems must vote their conscience.

Hey, how 'bout another four years of this nonsense? Everyone up for it? Sure.

Voted AGAINST phased redeployment and FOR not being able to funding. Spineless business as usual. Vietnam Redux continues. Incredible.

3. Great news for the Dems!
At first I thought the surge was heaven sent...now the democrats can switch from stopping the war to stopping the surge (the Iran situation seems much the same).

But this is wonderful and great that most of the demos voted for it. Now theyll never be put in a precarious situation of actually having to vote against funding the troops. See, its perfect...now they can talk as much rhetoric as they want without being able to back it up. Doesn't this bill (that they agreed to) hamstring them in the future?

Sad.

4. It's crap like this that will make it difficult for the Dems to retain power in 2008.
No spine.

The American people spoke LOUDLY in November, and we are being ignored by the people we put in office to represent us.

It's time to get rid of every single one of them, and get new ones who will do what we want them to do!

8. You have it exactly right! This was the chance the Dems were given,
and they're BLOWING IT!

People will now either go back to voting for wedge issues, since their main issues didn't count for shit, or they'll give up and not vote.

Great going, Dems.

:nuke:

9.  It sure looks like never ending war
Not only will the troops stay in Iraq and Afghanistan for the damn surge the dems also took out the section that stopped bush from going to war with Iran unless he got congresses approval , now bush can do whatever he wants thank's to AIPAC .

Taking care of the wounded troops is good but now there will be even more wounded troops since this new act and how many programs will get cut to fund all of the above ?

10. As someone on another thread said, "The anti-war movement is neither Dem or Repug".
Politicians don't lead, they follow. We must keep applying pressure on them no matter what party or what half-assed promises they make.

It's about ending the war, not politics, or getting "our guys" elected.

Push, kick, shove, embarrass, threaten, plead, beg, shout, withhold funding for their campaigns, expose, whatever it takes to get the war over.
