Can capitalism be saved from its own excesses?

NOW's David Brancaccio talks with a former Fortune 500 CEO who prescribes a cure for self-serving corporate leaders prone to abandoning rules of right and wrong -- at great peril to their companies, their communities, and the environment. Bill George's new book, "True North," provides insight and inspiration from 125 top U.S. business leaders across a wide spectrum of industries.

"I think we've been choosing boards of directors and many wrong leaders for the wrong reason," George says. "We choose people for their image, their charisma, their style and we should be choosing them for their integrity, for their character, and their substance."

What's wrong with American capitalism and how to fix it. This week on NOW.

NOW Web-Exclusive Audio Interview: Bud Cummins

NOW Senior Correspondent Maria Hinojosa talks with former U.S. Attorney Bud Cummins. Cummins is among the eight federal prosecutors dismissed by the Justice Department for reasons some charge are political and inappropriate.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez has admitted making mistakes in the case, and the Senate Judiciary Committee authorized on Thursday the use of subpoenas to elicit testimony from Justice Department officials.
