Just received word that our Dems have failed us yet again! Text of message:
"Democrats just wrote bill that lets bush go to iran without congress approval."
First, can anyone confirm or refute this?
   Second, if true, what next?

8. If the War Powers Resolution were actually followed, Congress could get us out of Iraq

3. reality: Dems did NOT insert a clause that would prohibit Bush from going
to war with Iran without permission. a little bit different, but terrible no matter how you look at it.

4. Not really, because it would have been redundant.
The Iraq War Resolution did not include authorization for Bush to strike Iran, and Pelosi and Reid have made it abundantly clear that the Bush administration needs prior authorization from Congress in order to do so.

5. Actually the constitution prohibits it.
So why put it in a bill that they wanted to get passed, without other hangling. At the same time, they told bush, HE CAN'T DO IT.

6. How did they tell Bush he couldn't do it? Is it legally tight? Can we
quote it and scream it to advise all the Congresspeople who didn't get it the last time and all the media who let it happen along with COngresspeople - I want them to know that we know he can't do it?

We need chapter and verse proof - anyone know where it's printed?

I guess I don't trust our own people on this, because most of them were not to be trusted the last time.

I was screaming angry yesterday when I heard they took it out.

I would like to understand why they don't seem to be making themselves more easily understood on this.

What's the best thing to read?

I don't want anyone to touch Iran - Persia - humans - heritage - the innocents - their/our human heritage.

7. Amen!!!
Whatever it takes... We CAN'T let this go any further and we CAN'T leave the regulation of the Executive Branch to a gang of Legislators who have proven that they 1] are capable of the most egregious venality, and 2] can NOT be trusted to do their jobs: to make our interests theirs! :grr:

9. It prohibits him from going to war, not taking military actions
But according to the War Powers Resolution which seems to be the precedent for getting us into wars, he needs congressional approval if he wants to commit ground troops for more than 30 days. Then again, he can bomb all he wants without congress.
