RW talkingpoint on U.S. Attorney firings

I apologize for not being up to speed with the RW talkingpoints on this but my wife said she heard that the RW'ers are saying, specifically O'Liely, that Janet Reno removed all 93 attorneys.

Can some of you help me out with this info?
I have a feeling some RW'ers I know will be bombarding me soon with this.

In fact, they had to ask them all to resign because they thought that blivet41 would just let them stay, since he was VP for Reagan and all. It took blivet41 two years to replace them all. bill took them all out, replaced them, and then let them stay during his second term too.

8. Janet Reno didn't fire her own side's attorneys midway through Clinton's second term

It's normal for a president to fire all the attorneys from the previous president's administration upon taking office. That way, the president can appoint new attorneys who will supposedly represent that party's point of view. HOWEVER (and this is the key point), once the U.S. attorneys are sworn into office, they are legally obligated to prosecute all cases equally.

In this case, bushco fired eight U.S. attorneys midway through the chimp's second term because those attorneys either refused to prosecute groundless cases against Democrats, or refused to drop important cases against Republicans (including Cunningham).

This is highly unethical and illegal. Clinton did nothing like this.

* used a slimy clause they sneaked into the un-Patriot-ic Act, to get around Senate confirmation. The used the firings to get around Senate approval, as the clause allows the president (via the AG) to make direct appointments upon vacancies. Bush created the "vacancies" to fill them with cronies. Clinton did NOT circumvent the process.
