Ignorant question: why did justice release all the emails?
Normally they would either shred them or lock them at Fort Knox claiming "executive privilege." I think that until these memos of Harriet and Rove were Sampson were released, we really were not aware of the magnitude, were we?

1. Not ignorant; I think we'd all like to know the answer to that. nt

2. Me, too
Not like them, for sure.

Maybe they thought no one would bother to read through them all. Certainly, not the infonews media. The story was going to an early death until the blogosphere rescued it.

3. Yes, why not Stonewall? but perhaps they learned that's not such a good plan
either.
I mean, if they stonewalled and then they came out... then it would just add to the drama of the release. This way, at least there was no dramatic build-up to the release... they could better limit the damage.

4. I think they have a leak going on
and if they stonewall on the release, they suspect the leaking will just get worse. Not certain about that.

5. It's called incompetence.
There may have been someone lower down in the food chain who didn't know what they said and handed them over.
