Senator Corker (R-Tenn) added, “Congress has allowed this war to go on
This was in a thread on FireDogLake. To me, its appropriate.

"Senator Corker (R-Tenn) added, “Congress has allowed this war to go on without anyone having a stake. We passed the debt on to future generations. Nobody has sacrificed but the military men and women and the families.”"

As I said, I find it appropriate, but a little surprised at its source. I don't think DLCer Ford would have said it.

1. Actually, yes, Ford is a budget hawk
If he'd've made a quote to that effect is an intriguing, if moot, thought experiment. The fact is that a member of Congress Ford would push for a responsible budget, which would mean not passing the cost of the war onto future generations.

Corker barely won his election and only did so by fighting sleezy. It doesn't surprise me that he's playing windsock on the most volatile issue of the day.

2. I hear your point, but let me take Senator Corker to task.
First, it seems to me that he's where he is today because a racist ad ran in his Senate contest against Harold Ford, playing on the lowest possible stereotype that could be dredged. Corker could have insisted that it stop running immediately; he did not.

Second, no matter who voted how in Congress, this is George W. Bush's war -- Bush and his idiot war Cabinet -- and the buck stops in the Oval Office.

When John Warner says an escalation of U.S. troop commitment in Iraq is a stupid idea, it probably is.

Just venting here against Corker for cheating to win and against Bush for lying to the entire world.

3. Corker's going with the crowd...
If bush said 'the sky is purple and we must all jump off the capital building' Corker would be there. As much as many here don't like Ford, he's been critical of the war for quite some time.

Corker is a sleaze in bed with the oil companies. He and Frist are cut from the same cloth.

4. Lets be real clear about which congress allowed this war to go on
it wasn't the 110th. Rest assured a democratic congress will be blamed for any mess still to come and that's why Bush is going to make a bigger one to help his party in 08. Dems need to get out and remind people that the new congress is going to work to end this mess.

5. Don't let Corker fool you, he has his head squarely up Bush's**

ass.

And just as Bush** thinks that Americans are 'sacrificing their piece of mind' by watching what little of the carnage that appears on the TV, Corker is still enjoying his huge tax cuts, his kids haven't signed up to serve.
