Poll question: Distracted or Able to Focus, regardless of The Tiara?
I am visiting a friend and on their computer. No sound. No TV. Relying on DUers to post realtime hearing information and thank you all so much. After reading a couple topics on a Code Pink woman in a tiara I posted a poll asking about when and where to protest. Based on the numerous postings about the hearing and answers given (thank most for being civil) I have another question.

Were you so distracted by that tiara that you could not pay attention to the people testifying or could you drag your attention off to what they were saying?

1. It was mostly her jumping up and down to be seen when the camera was pointed
her way that was really distracting.

3. I didn't hear about that, just the tiara.
That would be annoying and distracting.

4. She had on a pink "Impeach Bush" tshirt and she'd stand up everytime the
camera pointed toward her. She was right at Ms. Wilson's left shoulder.

6. OK, I can see the point. Not the tiara but the standing up bit would be distracitng.

7. especially the standing up just as Plame was explaining how it was Wilson was sent to...
...Africa. I was screaming at my TV for that woman to sit down. That was NOT the time to be distracting.

I support Code Pink but I think that was a mistake.

2. Amused at the fox outraged here.
How they do search for anything to change the focus.

5. Did you mean faux outrage, or am I completely in the dark?

11. double entendre
I meant fox outrage, deliberately invoking the meme faux newz. Fox news-> faux newz :: faux outrage -> fox outrage. I have to wonder about the motivations of those who it seems can only find fault with all protests popular and uncontrolled.

13. Okay, I thought that might be it. I suppose some DUers think I am opposed to protests
because I found the pink lady's actions nonproductive, somewhat self-serving, a bit disruptive and just plain silly.
As I've mentioned, and what should be intuitive to even the untutored casual observer, we will never be able to
impeach the Dubya without -some- support from those who are not yet on 'our side'. I seriously doubt the woman
in question made any converts today.

8. I didn't have any trouble staying focused. I thought it was very clever (oh, and incidentally, she
was NOT directly behind valerie's shoulder--there were severeal rows of people between them.

19. Not in the camera's eye..
Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 09:19 PM by XOKCowboy
She might as well have been jumping up and down in front of Valerie with a big sign reading Code Pink. She wanted to make sure that she was on camera and took advantage of it. The question is WHY? Ms. Wilson was doing fine on her own. It was a magnificent moment for our movement.

That young lady's behavior today did nothing to get our message out and it WAS distracting. Anything that detracted from Ms. Wilson's under oath testimony today was a travesty.

14. Some would call that focused...others might characterize it as fixated.

16. Okay, I see. It reminded me of a bratty little kid raising hell in a nice restaurant.
Or someone talking on a cell phone at a movie.

17. It certainly was odd looking.....
and I don't understand how it was supposed to add something to the protest.
