CNN interview with Trump/Blitzer ... did anyone catch the
full interview? I only caught part of it, but he was infuriated w/B*, the Iraq war, demanding to pull out now, and that everything this administration has stood for has proven to be a lie. I really thought I was hallucinating, and I am no fan of Wolffie or Trump, so ...was I hallucinating? I can't find any DU posts confirming or discussing this.

Condi - nothing. Gets on planes, smiles, waves - NEVER CLOSES A DEAL.

12. Absolutely NOT, according to this interview. He said that all
of the ME including Iran was now in a state of Civil War, we should pull out now, and the rest of the world hates us because of B*. He did not in any way indicate his desire for war w/Iran.

17. Trump speaks with a forked tongue. Don't believe me. Look for yourself
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/01/12/donald-trump-lets-bomb-iran/

Donald Trump: Let’s bomb Iran.Trump today on Bush’s speech: “You know, the one thing I sorta liked was what they were saying about Iran. I believe you have to go in and strike Iran — not with soldiers. You know, it’s not a world of soldiers anymore. It’s a world of air. It’s a world of different kinds of, you know, we’ve changed.”

18. Whoa! You have correct ed me. I know he speaks with a forked
and self-serving tongue. I have no like for the man. But based today on what he stated about Iraq and the civil war, I couldn't imagine he would have any delusions about the stupidity of bombing Iran. I guess I was wrong. But who knows when you have liars calling liars liars?

6. The Donald is all over the place on his political contributions, however
he gives the LARGEST sums to the Dems (DNC, et all)

As far as individual candidates, he is all over the map

7. As much as I can agree with the substance of his criticism, I'm also
not that thrilled as DT will call a press conference at the drop of a hat to tell the world that he can do any particular individual's job better than s/he can. And then let rip with the negative superlatives about his target and the positive superlatives about himself. It's getting trite and predictable.

9. Trump blasted B*sh as basically an idiot a while back
on Donny Deutsch's talk show. Said that everywhere he travels now, America is hated because of B*sh. He said he's a lousey CEO.

Trump thinks B*sh is an a-hole, that's true.

10. The Drudge Report seems to have the best account online so far.
http://www.drudgereport.com/flash2.htm

"Well, I think Bush is probably the worst president in the history of the United States. And I just don't understand how could have lost that election."

"Everything in Washington has been a lie. Weapons of mass destruction, it was a total lie. It was a way of attacking Iraq, which he thought was going to be easy and it turned out to be the exact opposite of easy. He reads 60 books a year. He reads a book a week. Do you think the president reads a book a week? I don't think so. He doesn't watch television. Now, one thing I know is when I'm on television, I watch, or I try. You do. Your own ego says, let's watch. Whether good or bad, you want to watch. He doesn't watch television. He's on television being interviewed by you or someone else, he doesn't watch. Does anyone really believe that?"

On Saddam Hussein:

"Whether they like him or didn't like him, he hated terrorists. He would shoot and kill terrorists. When terrorists came into this country, which he did control and he did dominate, he would kill terrorists. Now it is a breeding ground for terrorists."

15. Wake me when Trump or anyone tells Blitzer that PNAC brought
us that, not George. PNAC with their sponsors - those sponsors whose faces and names are not household names like Trump.

George is still the front man, the marionette, the money raiser and back slapper, neck rubber, bad joke teller. He can only nod his head when they coach him about what they are doing and why and what he has to say to us about it - for them.

We are misleading the world when we say George did it.

George is responsible for the calls he makes when he wants to take revenge on someone and they let him - to keep his spirits up and to just keep flying and appearing, in general.

19. Was Hitler responsible for his actions solely or
as much as those who followed him? An historical question of some importance here. Was Pericle's solely responsible for the Pelopponesian war or were the people of the 'democracy' that he represented also responsible? I tend to first place blame on the leader, but in B*'s case he is so dumb that there has never been quite a glaring historical example I suppose, of blind following by the leader! not blind following of the leader by his administrators or the populace. PNAC has B* following them, I agree.

20. I would like to listen in on you and other historians (because I
Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 07:15 PM by higher class
think you are) discuss comparisons. I think history all the time when considering these people, but I don't know enough. Mostly I get stuck thinking about how far back we're regressing - about all the hard work and sacrifices to keep improving our country.

I think about what I've learned on DU when someone first wrote about our Constitution's link back to the Magna Carta and how we regressed back to this nearly ancient century with one of the moves of this PNAC. Then I think about the barbarianism of invasion and plunder. But I don't know enough about leaders - so let me be the fly on the wall through DU.

I like your angle.

21. And I like your angle. I too have learned so much on DU
..I didn't even know what PNAC was until I visited this site. First came across DU before the 2004 election after I had done a Google on Cheney and Halliburton. Since that time I have learned so much.

I am in the medical profession, but have an interest in political philosophy since college days of yore. Our constitution has its earliest roots probably, from Plato's discussions on Political philosophy and what the ruling class should consist of. I think a lot of his opinions on the 'enlightened' elite later were transformed in the Catholic Church into monasteries and the like, under the influence of Augustine and Aquinas. But the two major influences on the formation of our government, IMO were John Locke and another political philosopher (whose name I'm blanking on now) who both clearly defined separation of powers to prevent tyranny. The first time I read John Locke's Second Treatise Concerning Government, I wept with the beauty of his passionate love for mankind and his hatred of tyrannies. Few books have moved me so much.

It is because of Locke, Plato, Thucydides and others, that I have viewed Government and the responsibilities of the democratic/representative/republican form of government, as a noble calling, that in my mind surpasses that of a minister or priest in a way. Imagine my utter horror at these monsters in power now, who make a pretense of Christianity, moral values and responsible limited government, and make war in the sacred name of freedom, for oil profits and self aggrandisement.

Our founding fathers were well versed in Plato, Thucydides, Aristotle, Hobbes, Locke, and even Machiavelli. ("If men were angels..." Machiavelli knew we weren't) The Federalist Papers are absolutely fascinating to read, although I confess I've not had the time to read all of them and I can't even remember the 'required' chapters that I did read, but one of the chapters contains the idea that if we were angels we would have no need of governance. I'll try and search for the appropriate chapters, but I've recently moved and all of my books are still packed! Anyway, it's a wonderful way to come to understand our constitution.

22. Bush is the great wizard Oz,
the image they want you to see, while they are working the levers from behind. I remember back in 2000, seeing this dufus being walked around with people like Henry Kissinger and James Baker and Dick Cheney. I had barely heard of him, and wondered why he was suddenly a golden boy. It's because there were enough dumbshits who would look at him and his good christian schtick, and vote. Bush is in charge as much as a dalmation is in charge of a firetruck.

23. Does he have a son or daughter in Iraq?
Is he trying to make a choice between the cost of medicine or food? Is he freezing because he can't pay his heating bills? Is he a Vietnam veteran who is sleeping under a bridge and doesn't have enough cardboard to get him through the coming blizzard? Is he paying student loans for twenty years for a college education that isn't able to guarantee a job other than a cook at McDonald's?

No interest in your opinion Donald, unless you can show experience with the above.
