DISGUSTING AP TWIST OF STORY, CALLS PLAME 'BLOND': "Plame sheds little light in leak case"
Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 07:22 PM by berni_mccoy

WASHINGTON - Valerie Plame put a glamorous face and a personal story to Democrats' criticism of the Bush administration Friday, telling a House committee that White House and State Department officials "carelessly and recklessly" blew her CIA cover in a politically motivated smear of her husband.
...
She revealed little new information about the case, which sparked a federal investigation and brought perjury and obstruction of justice convictions of Vice President Dick Cheney's former top aide, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. No one has been charged with leaking her identity.
...
News cameras whirred and spectators craned their necks to catch a glimpse of Plame as the blond <comment: WTF does the color of her hair have to do with thIs?!?!?!> former operative took her place alone at the witness table for her 90 minutes of testimony.
...
Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia, the committee's senior Republican, called the session a partisan hearing that would do little to illuminate how Plame's identity came to be exposed or how such disclosures could be prevented.

"It's a terrible thing that any CIA operative would be outed," Davis said. But "there's no evidence here that the people that were outing this and pursuing this had knowledge of the covert status."

Plame repeatedly described herself as a covert operative, a term that has multiple meanings. Plame said she worked undercover and traveled abroad on secret missions for the CIA.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING REPORTING.

2. What's really revolting
Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 07:20 PM by oldtime dfl_er
is that this piece seems to be buying the Davis line that the whole investigation at this point is just for show, when in fact HE was the one playing most shamelessly to the camera.

3. What are they afraid that's
going to happen if they report the facts and the truth of the matter?

Are they going to lose their readership? Are they going under? Are they going to have to pay more taxes? :scared: :scared:

They need to be held accountable for bias, lazy, scurvy reporting.

4. There goes that "librul" Media who usually
props up WH by taking their slant.

Too bad their hearing is so affected they did not hear
Gen. Hayden (CIA Director) described V. Plame as Covet,
Classified.

Ron Brownstein tried to do this tonight on Hardball but
Dick Gregory and other panelist, Cooper did not permit
him to get away with it.
Brownstein , no surprise does all he can to help
Republicans.

6. Uh, Congressman Davis, they should have conservatively
assumed that she was covert since most of the employees in that division are covert.

But, of course they knew. That's why they set the whole disclosure up, because they knew she was covert and it would punish her and her husband.

10. Actually, "blond" is correct for the adjective, "blonde" for the female version of the noun.
But it did not belong in this story, at all. The AP Stylebook warns journalists against that kind of crap. Were any of the men who questioned her today referred to by THEIR hair color?

"The brunet Rep. Sarbanes asked whether her exposure had been orchestrated..."

9. she seems to write for the Baltimore Sun...
I felt the need to comment...

Good Evening. I had the misfortune of reading an article written by Julie Hirschfeld Davis on Valerie Plames' testimony today. I no longer view any televised media, as it is a waste of my time, but do watch C-Span, when they cover live events. Reading slanted stories about something that I watched unfold, sickens me. Where is the line with 'journalists' and 'news' organizations? I feel fortunate that I had the time today to watch the hearing, and did not have to consider this as a plausible interpretation of events. I understand the myriad of motives behind such articles, and the effect this practice has had on our society. I for one, will not be perusing any more articles written by this journalist. Thank you for the further enlightenment of the state of the media in this country.

Plame sheds little light in leak case

By JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS, Associated Press Writer 51 minutes ago
She revealed little new information about the case, which sparked a federal investigation and brought perjury and obstruction of justice convictions of Vice President
Dick Cheney's former top aide, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. No one has been charged with leaking her identity.

Still, Plame's appearance before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was a moment of political theater that dramatized Democrats' drive to use their control of Congress to expose what they see as White House efforts to intimidate dissenters.

12. Valerie Plame Wilson told the TRUTH.
Then, when Corporate McPravda shills for the Reich and the forces of evil, that's as light as it gets.
