Mentally Unfit, Forced To Fight : Follow Up
Still Deployed, Red Flags And All

The Military is referring increasing numbers of troops for psychological evaluations before deeming them fit for combat, but is still deploying the vast majority of service members who disclose mental health issues, according to newly obtained Department of Defense data.

From the beginning of the Iraq war through 2005, about 6.4 percent of troops who reported possible mental health problems were referred for professional evaluation as part of the pre-deployment process. In 2006, those referrals rose to 9.5 percent, and for the first five weeks of 2007, the numbers spiked to more than 15 percent.

But even as the military sends more troops for evaluations, there has been little change in percentage of service members who are ultimately deemed fit for combat despite disclosing that they have sought mental health care.

5. The following is the mantra of the Suck:
1) Mission Accomplishment
2) Troop Welfare

Marines (and all troops) are meat for the grinder, if a slot needs to be filled on the Bn CO's deployment board, you are gonna fill it marine...

Karma Police
I've given all I can
It's not enough
I've given all I can
But we're still on the payroll
