This year is the 40th anniversary of the historic March on the Pentagon of 1967 which some say was the turning point for support of the Vietnam War.

Cindy Sheehan, Ramsey Clark, Malik Rahim, Howard Zinn, Jonathan Hutto, Carlos and Melida Arredondo, ImpeachBush.org, Veterans for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, the National Council of Arab Americans, Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation, World Can’t Wait and impeachment supporters and groups from all over the country who are determined to end the war in Iraq and who are “standing up for the Constitution” are among those participating. Many people coming to this demonstration are attending their first political protest. Others are “protest veterans” from the sixties and seventies.

The march will be led by active-duty soldiers and marines, Iraq war veterans, soldiers’ families and other veterans from past and present wars.

Organizers released a statement today to people expected to attend, “Your presence at the March on the Pentagon makes all the difference. We have to show the government, the rest of the country, along with the people of Iraq and the world, our deep commitment to bring an immediate end to the war in Iraq. We must let the world know that administration is not acting with our consent and make our demands clear: that Bush and officials in his administration are war criminals who must be Impeached. The March on Pentagon will be a stirring expression of a movement that won’t rest until the last U.S. soldier has been brought home and Congress has carried out its Constitutional duty to Impeach. All out for the March on the Pentagon!”
