Faith Hill's Latest Song
This morning I was flipping through the radio stations I like and came across the latest Faith Hill song. I did not here the whole song, but I heard the protion where she seems to be talking about building or rebuilding a city. Hill seems to be saying "if you want to build a city, but it could be wiped away by a story, build it anyway". When I heard the words I thought this was Hill sending a message to Bush and all his supporters who have said New Orleans should not be rebuilt since it could be drowned again by another storm. Has anyone else heard this song? What do you think about the meaning of the song?

2. I have not heard the song
but she and Tim McGraw have made no secret about their unhappiness with the "speed" of recovery. They called bullshit on Bush a long time ago.

Looking forward to hearing the song, though! I'm a fan, even though I'm not a fan of their music.

6. Former Republicans?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that, during the great Dixie Chicks Dust-up, all these singers (Hill, McGraw, McBride) were mentioned as Bush supporters.

Wonder how the rest of the Nashville brigade is feeling about their Shrubby now?

11. I watched "Shut Up and Sing" last night
and you could not pay me to listen to country music today. I read where Willie Nelson admitted he was wrong to not speak up for them when all this mayhem was going on, and he also said they were targeted because they were women because he said things about the war and bush and no one even paid attention to him. Of course, he was also making records with good ole boy toby while this was all going on also.

The Chicks said themselves that they were targeted because they were seen as "all american girls", and the right wing knew if they took them down then everyone else would be afraid to speak out against them. All I can say is that Natalie has some spunk and she was not about to give in to anybody. Emily and Martie are also strong women and good friends to stand by her through out this all.
Power to the Chicks!

3. See: Faith Hill, Tim McGraw Blast 'Humiliating' Katrina Cleanup
Edited on Sat Mar-17-07 10:03 AM by IanDB1
Country Stars Lash Out in Anger Over Conditions in Storm-Ravaged States

March 8, 2006 — Faith Hill and Tim McGraw — two stars who usually stay out of politics — blasted the Hurricane Katrina cleanup effort, with Hill calling the slow progress in Louisiana and Mississippi "embarrassing" and "humiliating."

The country music artists — who are natives of the storm-ravaged states — were at times close to tears, and clearly angry when the subject of Katrina came up during a news conference today. They had met with reporters in Nashville to promote their upcoming Soul2Soul II Tour, but when asked about the hurricane cleanup, the stars pulled no punches.

"To me, there's a lot of politics being played and a lot of people trying to put people in bad positions in order to further their agendas," McGraw, a 38-year-old native of Delhi, La., said after ABC News Radio's Dan Gordon asked about Katrina.

"When you have people dying because they're poor and black or poor and white, or because of whatever they are — if that's a number on a political scale — then that is the most wrong thing. That erases everything that's great about our country."

McGraw specifically criticized President Bush. "There's no reason why someone can't go down there who's supposed to be the leader of the free world … and say, 'I'm giving you a job to do and I'm not leaving here until it's done. And you're held accountable, and you're held accountable, and you're held accountable.

"'This is what I've given you to do, and if it's not done by the time I get back on my plane, then you're fired and someone else will be in your place. '"

Hill: 'I Fear for Our Country'

7. Why is it...
...that so many are only outraged when it becomes personal.

Wrong is wrong whether it is personal or not.

8. That in a nutshell is the difference between Lib's and Con's
Conservatives see things as how I am affected.
Liberals see things as how We are affected.

12. Pretty lyrics but it reminds me of the old spirituals
If they do you wrong, then just keep on keeping on.

This is not the old days, they have made it where you can't do much if you don't have the money. People have gone back down to New Orleans and other places hit by Katrina and found their houses have already been taken by the government. They have nothing to rebuild and nothing to rebuild with.

I'm sorry, but my song of the day is "I'm mad and I'm not going to take it anymore."

Well, it is snowing here in Illinois (only flurries) with the temperature around forty-five, I guess hell has frozen over. ;-)

10. My Mistake
I thought it was Faith Hill. I have heard the last part of the song twice, but never the very beginning. After the song the station did not say who was singing the song. I thought it sounded like Hill so I just assumed it was Hill. Is is just me or do Faith Hill and Martina McBride sound exactly the same? I thought sure the voice sounded like Faith Hill.
