http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17659270/Ah...what? Chlorine bombs made 350 Iraqis and six US troops kill?I get it, of course. This report popped at about 6am. Someone on the wire was typing too fast, and by the time I post this, that line above will have been fixed. Hard to keep up with the disasters these days, it seems. "Six troops and 350 Iraqis were killed in a suicide bombing that involved chlorine" will, maybe, be the line after they fix it.
The bombs in question were in dump trucks that had huge tanks of chlorine wired with explosives inside, and these nightmares were deliberately detonated in proximity to many humans. In a city. In a city.
In a city.
Remember those quaint days back in 2003? Back when the war justifiers used to draw those obscene parallels between urban murder rates (Detroit vs. Baghdad was one I heard quite a bit) to trivialize what was, back then, a comparatively small massacre? You remember, back when guys like Rush used to deploy death-related statistics as a positive point of argument?
We don't hear that shit so much anymore. Funny, eh? I love old talking points. Revisiting them is a bit like cleaning out the cat box.
This abomination happened in Iraq, instead of America or Europe, on a no-attention news day, so it'll slide by...excepting the expected blather from the usual craven knotheads who'll try to transmogrify this into some "They had WMD!" a.m. radio pablum...
...and that noise will be the talking-point dreck we'll mock a year from now.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
