CBS Lara Logan Pleads to Get Haifa St Video Aired-Too Graphic for CBS

TEXT OF THE EMAIL FROM LARA LOGAN:

From: lara logan
Subject: help

The story below only appeared on our CBS website and was not aired on CBS. It is a story that is largely being ignored, even though this istakingplace verysingle day in central Baghdad, two blocks from where our office is located.

Our crew had to be pulled out because we got a call saying they were about to be killed, and on their way out, a civilian man was shot dead in front of them as they ran.

I would be very grateful if any of you have a chance to watch this story and pass the link on to as many people you know as possible. It should be seen. And people should know about this.

If anyone has time to send a comment to CBS – about the story – not about my request, then that would help highlight that people are interested and this is not too gruesome to air, but rather too important to ignore.

Many, many thanks.

1. Lara Logan is the real deal at CBS.
I'll give the link a look. It sounds horrible, though.

3. Certainly graphic and for those with a strong stomach
But hey, since when did the MSM get bothered about graphic footage when it showed the bodies of the quote-unquote "bad guys"

17. Ashamed to admit, I'm the same way
Not only is she attractive, she's smart and dedicated. A combination that I love. I just wish she could actually get the news that she so strongly feels is important out of Iraq instead of being watered down by CBS brass that like to water down the news to make it palatable to the corporate masters and the puppet masters that control them.

19. I have to agree with you. But her work is so good,
I'd still watch her even if she looked like Candy Crowley.

26. OK I agree also but did you notice...
how the coverage is never about her. No makeup, relatively little time on camera and a strong focus on hard new coverage. Compare that to most MSM coverage. Never mind The Faux Girls. :puke: She's a true journalist. They're a dying breed.

9. That video needs to be seen
in American homes at dinnertime on the TV. That's how you shake things up. Kudos to a gusty Lara Logan for getting it out and pushing for more; I imagine CBS will come down on her for it, though I sure hope I'm wrong. Death and destruction, that's what we brought.

Edited on Fri Jan-26-07 02:28 AM by Nutmegger
She needs to talk about the schools that being built and the people in the streets praising our good name because they have been liberated!

Freedom is on the march Ms. Logan!

11. Yet the whores at CBS have no problem airing a commercial for Bounty
On the web video.

Typical. This is why I never watch any of the so called "mainstream" "news."

All they're interested in is selling paper towels and misinforming people.

16. They wanted me to buy a new Oral B toothbrush
No thanks CBS - I'll buy another brand since you can't play this in the mainstream so people can actually see whats going on instead of listening to Dick Cheneys view of roses and unicorns.

21. holy crap
in the "post-roll" after the video is shown, a Chevron commercial appears. I guess Chevron is a sponsor for CBS online.

Damn, I got chills watching that right after the Haifa St. segment. Talk about juxtaposition.

22. CBS seems to have removed the video...
I watched a 2:08 story on Haifa Street twice and no part of it shows a man being shot on camera.

:(

24. Video NOT removed

You misread the OP. The video did not show anyone being shot 'on camera' - that incident happened when the CBS crew was pulling out. The video does show several bodies which had been shot however.

23. Lara's CBS editors are nothing less than craven cowards...
This is an important story...the Battle of Baghdad... and in a just world where journalists are truth seekers it would be told.

Kudos to Lara Logan for her courage...and everlasting shame on her editors for their unmitigated cowardice.

If the public (and the government) can't stomach it, then it should not be allowed to happen.

28. If only war were as pretty as
All those plastic surgery shows that gets aired on prime time tv.

Maybe I'm desensitized but I didn't find it all that graphic.

I think the real reason for not airing it is because there was "negative" words against the US and from the network who tried to bury Shrub with a "bogus" report and there you have the real reason for not airing it.
