Al Franken and subprime loans

Al Franken spoke out against predatory subprime loans in 2002. An ad running constantly on TV in Minnesota makes it seem like he's completely in favor of them.

This ad is by a soft-money group.

The narrator says, "Subprime lending has decimated our economy."

Then the ad shows Al Franken saying, "Many subprime lenders are doing a real service. They’re doing exactly what we want."

However, Al Franken was speaking out against predatory subprime-loans at the time.

His point was that not every subprime-loan is predatory.
