Neb. Court: Boy Who Bullied Girl Is Liable Under Stalking Law

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska Supreme Court has ruled that an Omaha teenager who called a female schoolmate "fat penguin" and other derogatory names in front of other students committed misdemeanor stalking.

The ruling overturned an appeals court finding that the 16-year-old's actions were intended only for his "own juvenile amusement."

According to court documents, the teen yelled at the girl close to 200 times over two months.

He shoved a chair directly into her path, causing her to stumble, repeatedly called her a derogatory name and threw food at her, yelling at her to "eat some more" and calling her fat.

1. Maybe after a year in juvie the little prick will find a new hobby
If it's a worse one, involving B&E, he can be put away, period.

Bullying like that in middle school is taken as a norm, alas. By the time kids are in high school, it's totally inappropriate. He was also taking it perilously close to assault.

It's high time schools take it seriously unless they want more Columbine incidents.

3. Where Was The School In All Of This?
I hate to see behaviors that should be nipped in the bud quickly by school officials and parents elevated to the courts.

7. I Included The Parents But It Appears To Have Happened At
school. Were the parents even aware? It is my experience that kids can act completely different at home and at school. My son seems to do his acting up at home while being a perfect angel at school.

4. If I had EVER EVEN ONCE behaved like that toward anyone
as a child and my parents had got wind of it, I would have been paddled so hard I couldn't sit down. And deprived of one hell of a lot of privileges. For a long time. There would have never been a second time, let alone 200.

Where were the parents? They just LET their child behave like a thug? THEY are the ones who need a serious a-- whoopin'.

6. Where was this when I was a kid?
Edited on Sat Mar-17-07 02:42 PM by devilgrrl
Let's see, my Jr. High School years, I was regularly referred to as "INOPS" (In Need of Plastic Surgery), Fifi (because I was a dog...), Jungle bunny, white nigger, spear chucker and a variety of other racist terms because of my hair. Everyday straight 7th and 8th grade.

I'd rather have been called a "fat penguin".

8. Jr. High is painful for so many
I've come to believe some perfectly normal kids become sub-human for a while during those years. So sorry they victimized you in such a way.
