3. Kicked and recommended!
The Democrats that are running are all good, progressive people. I agree with some more than others, but they are all on our side when it comes to defeating the right wing Republicans!

7. I really don't want to defend Democrats here on DU
I was so sad that Arnuld won in Calif; largely because of ads run quoting Democrats from the primary battle. Same shit is going on here

12. Exactly! I'm not giving the DLC a blank check!
Edited on Sat Mar-17-07 03:09 PM by calipendence
I'm still waiting for one of our candidates running to pick up and promote and lead the battle for publicly financed elections so that we can start the essential battle of ridding ourselves of corporate influence. In some resepcts that's even a bigger battle than fighting against the Republicans, since they infest to different degrees both parties. At least with Dems there's hope of getting rid of that corporate influence now.

14. I object to a lot of what goes on in DC
I will agree to objecting to positions, after all, that's why we have primaries. Some of the shit going on around here is downright trollish, however.

26. Yeah, we do vent a lot here.
My main thought is a lot of people on DU are young and impatient or have been working on these causes so long they are impatient.

I keep seeing how it isn't just road block type issues we're dealing with, but washed out roads and having to build bridges to the other side in order to get things done. During the bridge building phase (ie: reaching out to repubs who have any conscience or other seemingly long way home type moves) people seem to go balistic.

Still. I have to take a break from here sometimes. Especially the trollish shit.

I would add to the last line: "unless they behave in such as way as to completely demean the Democratic Party."

11. My Commitment: I will think for myself and not join a "group think"
Edited on Sat Mar-17-07 03:11 PM by NightWatcher
I will make decisions for myself.
I will not blindly follow the lead of a candidate who purchases a nomination.
I will not vote for something just because it is popular.
I will retain my identity.
I will not trash the competition, but I will debate the issues.
I will not bash anyone for their choice, and I expect the same from the rest of DU.
I will play nice and fight fair.

on edit:
I will not pick fights or participate in attacks.

18. not picking a fight- I swear
is there a difference between fighting and debating?
I like to debate everything, but not a big fan of name calling and fighting.
I'm kinda new, but I've seen some nasty fights on here when people think that they are being slandered.

19. I never use demeaning laguage to debate points
I try to communicate with respect. That doesn't mean i will not tell someone that their posting against Dems is not appreciated, and they should be more constructive. On rare(extremly rare) occasions , I will "alert". I don't call names

or called anyone a name-? I don't think so. Try to differentiate between
general statements and personal comments.Your comment is a bit of a stretch , and hardly an untruth in my comment. Or, maybe you are denying the presence of trollish behavior? did I call someonr a troll? BTW excellent splice on my post

Our guys/gals are not perfect, but they are not criminals and I believe they do have the best interest of the US at heart.

20. Oh, brother. So it starts already?
with the loyalty oaths?

NO THANK YOU!

Here's mine:

This is DU, not the larger world. I'll speak my mind freely here. That includes criticism -- aka: "bashing" to some -- of those candidates and elected officials who deserve it for what they deserve to be criticized for.

And NO ONE here will shame me into joining some weak-kneed, weaker-spined, quivering herd mentality. That's for Republicans.

And if that means going after the GOP-enablers SO BE IT.
