2. perhaps one should ask them to Washington...
After the current occupant of the White House moves on. Perhaps they can do some cleansing at the Pentagon, too, while there.

12. What would they charge for the White House?
Maybe a 2-for-1 for Cheney's place, too.

On the other hand, it might be quicker to raze it and put up a new White House.

of the parasite known as Bush.

(Hopefully it will be before the expected departure date. They'll have to go do the prison where he's incarcerated, too. Don't want the other prisoners to be bugged by evil spirits.)

22. Profound thanks to you, Bluebear, for these magnificent photos!
In my limited understanding of native shamanism, people who purify evil spirits from a place take a great risk upon themselves, and must be very holy, indeed--and pure in their own hearts--to absorb this evil and remove its influence.

Bush brings the evil spirits of the horrendous slaughter of 200,000 Mayan villagers in Guatemala in the '80s, with Reagan's direct complicity--with some of the same unfortunate souls serving Bush as served Reagan (notably John 'death squad' Negroponte, now Undersecretary of State for Latin America), and the evil spirits of greed and coldness of heart, as expressed by our leaders in continued support of the malevolent US "war on drugs," devastating global corporate predation ("free trade"; World Bank/IMF), and gross interference in opposition to democracy in Latin America, including assassination plots and other foul schemes. Although I think that Democratic Party leaders (Carter, Clinton) had much to do with stopping our genocidal policy in Latin America, Clinton and the Corporate Democrats then inflicted economic policy which has been devastating in its own way, and are thus carriers of the evil spirit of greed. It is not just Bush's evil spirits that need to be cleansed but also the entire exploitative spirit in our culture that views Latin America as somehow less American than we are, less human, less worthy of respect and fair treatment. Ironically, it is South Americans who are now pointing the way out of OUR dilemma--a government that will not listen to us on the dreadful war they have perpetrated in Iraq, and whose fascist policies and pale Democratic remedies are afflicting vast numbers of Americans on this side of the border. The lessons of the Latin American revolution: 1. Transparent elections (!). 2. Grass roots organization. 3. Think big.

This expression of the spiritual aspect of social justice reform comes to us at a time of need. May the beauty and peacefulness and courage of this ceremony help Guatemalans in their struggle with the rightwing forces in their country, and spread to our country and the world! May the healing begin!

24. This is the teaching of the condor and the eagle
the ancient teaching of our hemisphere. From Odyssey of the 8th Fire:

"From the south direction came twenty-four women and men representing the Quechua, Mapuche, Payapo, Maya Cafan, and other native nations of South America.

"They entered the vigil circle and spoke of the ancient prophecy of the condor and the eagle, similar to the teachings we Sunbow pilgrims had heard at the United Nations in August."

23. The good Christians are purifying the White House with their prayers--some going to jail
today. We should join forces. A General Purification of the Western Hemisphere, by our best religious leaders--of greed, militarism, unjust war and fascist economics! We must all live within our means, and within the Earth's ability to support us, and we must all re-pledge ourselves to the great humanitarian principles that emerged from WW II: world peace, no wars of choice, humane treatment of prisoners, and social justice. We can all have healthy, thriving, trading economies, ruled by a common ethical sense, if we pledge ourselves to it. This is what the new governments of South America are doing. It's time we cut our military budget down by about 90%, to a true defensive posture, dismantle these badass global corporate predators and seize their assets for the common good, and start creating the only real prosperity--the prosperity of the people, by the people and for the people. Transparent elections. Grass roots organization. Think big.

26. 'That a person like Bush...is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people'
GUATEMALA CITY (AP) - Mayan leaders announced that priests will purify a sacred archaeological site to eliminate ''bad spirits'' after U.S. President George W. Bush's visit.

''That a person like , with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture,'' Juan Tiney, the director of a national association of indigenous people and peasant farmers, said March 8.

Bush's seven-day tour of Latin America included a stopover late March 11 in Guatemala. The morning of March 12, he was scheduled to visit the archaeological site Iximche on the high western plateau in a region of the Central American country populated mostly by Mayans.

Tiney said the ''spirit guides of the Mayan community'' decided it would be necessary to cleanse the sacred site of ''bad spirits'' after Bush's visit so that their ancestors could rest in peace. He also said the rites - which entail chanting and burning incense, herbs and candles - would prepare the site for the third summit of Latin American Indians March 26 - 30.

31. There have been plenty of those at our protests in Santa Barbara
I guess it depends on where you are. Today a Chumash elder blessed the gathering at the Courthouse Sunken Gardens after the march with lots of sage smoke.

I just LOVE what the Mayans have done! Like a lot of people here at DU, I feel like the White House and VP's residence will need a full-on exorcism when the current occupants move out. BushCheney have done so much evil, with intent.

30. Oh, I love this! This is better than Hugo Chavez when he said
"The devil came right here... And it still smells of sulfur today."
http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1537357,00.html

Yet, some people were outraged by this. The truth hurts sometimes. Truth be told, Chavez probably did say it just to get a rise. These Mayan people though, they are performing a truereligious ceremony to clense something that they percieve as a true threat or abomination to their culture. These indigenous people practice a religion that is uncorrupted by greed, fame or politics... pure spirituality & faith. They aren't doing this for show...

37. I can see it now, when Bush leaves office..................
A line of priests marching through White House corridors: Catholic priests sprinkling holy water, Protestant ministers, Rabbis, Mullahs, Native American medicine men, shamans, Wiccan priestesses all trying to drive out the evil of Bush & the NeoCons. Will smoke come up wherever the holy water lands?

39. The priests had announced they would
have to do this well before the shrub got there. If he had an ounce of respect for this country & her people he would not have gone to their sacred ruins. He certainly didn't have to. (Yeah, I know that sounds stupid & naive) Imagine him having respect for anything or anyone! I withdraw my statement.
