8. Yep. The freepers have been talking about it for weeks.
The anti-war protesters spat at a wounded Iraq war soldier; they spray-painted graffiti on the U.S. Capitol, the veterans said.

<snip>

When McWhorter heard that protesters were planning on assembling at the Vietnam Memorial — a monument honoring the fallen from a war in which he served — he and coffee shop owner Dianne McColgan sat down and figured it would take 88 people, shoulder to shoulder, to protect the wall from potential desecration.

"If we can just get three times 88, they won't even see the wall," McWhorter said

3. Deluded fools. Why would a vet support Chickenhawk *?
I hope nobody gets hurt. Monkeyman was going to be right at that spot, but his travel plans fell apart at the last minute.

4. a friend of mine was there--with some IVAW ... and
she said the pro-war protestors were blocking the memorial and the IWAV were pissed off about it. After all, they were fighting and their name could be on an Iraq Occupation wall someday!

5. Trying to provoke a violent confrontation.
They've been on about it for weeks, as someone noted upthread. I hope our people know how to deal with this without it exploding in everyone's faces.

I agree with the sentiments, I'm surprised they didn't have equestrian units there. The Rangers should have been called to move the freepers out.

Edit to add my welcome from a cold war vet.

9. Heard a report on NPR this afternoon
that referred to these nitwits 'guarding' the memorial as "anti" anti-war protesters. Wouldn't that make them "PRO" war protesters?

Sheesh. :eyes:

19. Who is really dishonoring the dead, though?
 Wouldn't it be the ones who "support the troops" by clamoring to create more dead by prolonging the war and denying proper medical care to those veterans who come back physically and emotionally wounded? I am SO SICK of this whole idea that you must be pro-war in order to "support the troops." :grr: :puke: Bullshit. I DO support our troops - I support them having proper armor, proper training, and proper care when they came home; and I support them coming home alive. What is wrong with these people? Do they think the only good soldier is a dead soldier? If so, then I have no words for them, because that is truly despicable and disgusting - and unpatriotic at its core.

Rolling Blunder may you rot in Hell. No One would of done a thing to the Wall of the Fallen. You did this only for Political Reasons. You block a brother from entering a place of honor. There is no better place to start a march then from a place where my Brothers rest. We fought a war of lies now it has happened again. I wish I was there . Never Again was the promise I made to those names of honor.May God Forgive Bush and Rolling Thunder I will never forgive this.

18. Why is the anti-war guy "a man who identified himself" as a vet
when the pro-occupation people weren't given this qualifier. Did they have proof of their status, whereas the anti-war protester left his at home?
