That's what lobbying is.

In these modern times, there is no "need' for lobbying.

Even the "good" lobbyists are really unnecessary. IS there anyone on the planet who thinks it's a good idea to dump waste into rivers we drink from, or to kill every last animal or to put arsenic in babyfood?

Lobbying is coerced bribery in its simplest form.

It's money paid to people who have power to make laws.
The money is to make them go against their better judgement, and create counter-productive laws that benefit a few...(usually the rich)

Doing the right thing (protecting the poor & the environment) is a no-brainer, so in order to make normal people vote against these things, there has to be a substantial amount of payola in play.

Sadly, the causes that are decent & proper, must also pay "hired money-slingers" to try to outbid the "blackhatters".

The legislators gleefully take money from all offerers, and in the end, promise much, and deliver just enough to both sides to keep the cash drawer open.

That's lobbying..

Now , what's your price for Mom ? (You know she might enjoy getting out of the house and meeting people...and she might make a few bucks too..)
