Gosh I sure hope so. I know the Dems will probably not be too receptive to the idea because Fitzgerald is an equal opportunity prosecutor. He will nail Dems just as fast as Repugs if he ever gets the job of AG. That is a gimme. Which by the way I consider that a good thing. I hate all corruption by elected officials regardless of their political affiliation.

An early promise to consider making Fitzgerald the Attorney General if elected from any Dem candidate running for president would go a long way with me. I will be very suspicious of any candidate who hedges on this suggestion.

1. how do you know if he even wants the job?
And the answer to your question is no. And so long as Fitz is still authorized to investigate -- and it is my understanding that he is -- someone discussing with him, or publicly committing to offer him a higher position would be wildly inappropriate and unhelpful.

6. I think he would take the job out of a sense of duty whether he wanted it or not if asked
I agree with what you said in your message. I hadn't even thought about that.

2. I agree - Fitz is an honest, honorable man with true respect for the LAW
That is the type person we need as AG - not a partisan hacklike Gonzo.

3. Bush may have to make Fitzgerald AG. Who else can get confirmed after Gonzales
resigns?

4. What if he doesn't want the job?
Fitzgerald is a trial lawyer, and a very good one. The U.S. Attorney General is an administrator who never sees the inside of a courtroom. I wouldn't be surprised at all if a guy like Fitzgerald wouldn't be very interested in being a paper pusher.

5. umm, the Senate would shut that down faster than the war resolution
I'd LOVE to see Fitz in that job -- but do you honestly think the Repub senators are going to do anything but BLOCK this?

THAT would be a dream nomination. Then it would be a fitzmas moment.

7. I dunno. On Ring of Fire last week Mike P said Fitz could have gone a lot further than he did.

He only did what he basically had to. I do not know enough about the law to judge, but I believe Pap. http://www.airamerica.com/ringoffire/node/149
