Rove defends president

By Matt Clower, The Messenger

White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove defended the firing of eight U.S. attorneys to an audience of Troy University students Thursday and called the controversy surrounding the removals “a lot of politics.”

While taking questions from students following his speech, Rove said the Bush administration's removal of the attorneys was no different than similar dismissals of attorneys during President Clinton's term.

“We're at a point where people want to play politics with it. That's fine,” he said. “I'd simply ask everybody who's playing politics with this be asked to comment about the removal of 123 U.S. attorneys during the previous administration and see if they had the same super-heated political rhetoric.”

Rove said the firings were all based on policy and personnel issues.

“In each of these instances a decision was made at the Department of Justice on the basis of policy and personnel,” Rove said.

1. Here's what is playing in his head, 24 hours a day...
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

2. Just keep repeating it over and over, Porkface
Again and again, that old canard has been addressed. Not only Clinton, but St. Ronnie, Poppy, and Chimp himself mass-fired US attorneys at the beginning of their administrations. That's an accepted practice, and very different from purging attorneys the president himself has appointed in the middle of a second term.

Rove, of course, knows this, but he keeps throwing the same crap against the wall, hoping some will stick.

6. This Guy Talks Just Like Sean Hannity
Only difference is that Sean makes $100 million plus more than Rove for telling the same lies to the 30 percent "moral minority."

9. Rove reminds me of a fat, grey,
self-satisfied and useless neutered tabby cat. The kind that you can't even get to scare away the rodents.
