Sasha and Malia are getting a puppy!
Just re-read his speech from last night and totally overlooked this before - don't know why it strikes me as such a good/cute thing, maybe just because everything seems a little brighter today

I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last sixteen years, the rock of our family and the love of my life, our nation's next First Lady, Michelle Obama. Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House. And while she's no longer with us, I know my grandmother is watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight, and know that my debt to them is beyond measure.

2. Me too! They are the best kind, anyway.
In 36 years of marriage we have had a total of 5 dogs and cats. We are certain we saved the life of each and every one. We found our present little kitty riding on the windshield washer fluid reservoir.

4. My doggies in my lifetime were not rescue pups but all of the 6 kitties in my lifetime were.
If I ever did get another dog (which I doubt), it would be a rescued one.

Our last addition to our kittie family was Jack, our black beauty who came to our doorstep crying at 5AM. This was a little over a year ago.

 to you!!!

7. If that is Jack in the Photo
he is a spitting image of our Squacky and looks to be around the same age. He is "Squacky" because he answers everything you say to him and seldom shuts up.

9. Squakie sounds like a cutie!!!
Yes, that's Jack. The vet told us last year that he was between 4-5 years old. He talks but isn't talkative. He gives slightly high pitched grunt sounds when he wants to eat, to be given attention. When he play fights with Charlie (the orange tabby), he has a whole range of voices. Those two are fabulous friends and truly love each other.

Amy, the gray kittie still hasn't accepted the 2 "interlopers". She was 4 when Charlie came and 4 1/2 when Jack arrived on the scene. She is such a bitch to them!!!

Years ago I had a black kittie who passed at 17 years named Sasha. She was an incredible talker and I thought she had Siamese somewhere in her ancestory.

Have a purrrrfect day!

:hi:

3. They can't.
One of his girls is allergic, so they are limited as to their choices. I think it was AKC a while back that ran some kind of poll as to what kind of puppy they should get. I don't remember learning which breed won.

These were some of the breeds that were included:

5. There are rescue organizations for all breeds. Even the ASPCA in NYC. They have a plethora
a full bred dogs of all breeds. It's been a tough time for pets and their owners in these tough times.

11. You are so right. Duhhh from my addled brain. I knew that...
Why it didn't occur to me this morning, I have no idea. I guess I was mostly thinking about the many mixed breed pups that unfortunately find their way to "the pound".

That's what I get for posting before my second cup of coffee in the morning.
