US vs John Lennon

I'm watching this movie and a thought occured to me.

You know how, every time Bush does another surge or whatever the change of the day seems to be, someone will invariably say.......well, give it time, let's see if it works.
So basically they are saying give war a chance.

Then I hear Lennon singing 'all we are saying is give peace a chance'.

And here's my thinking.........why would any sane person want to give war a chance when they could give peace a chance? War symbolizes death and destruction and peace symbolizes love and harmony in the world. What kind of idiot would want destruction instead of love?
