ABC Soap Opera "All My Children" Features Iraq and Afghanistan Injured Veterans Today
I just watched a session featuring several vets missing various body parts explain their injuries as part of a storyline. Very moving stuff. It's about to be repeated if you get the Soap Opera Network on cable.

Just sayin' ...

In real life back in 2003, Dalton-native Martinez was barely 19 years old when a Humvee he was riding in back was rocked by an roadside bomb in Iraq.

He had over 40 percent of his body burned and has had over 30 surgeries since.

In honor of Veteran's Day, AMC put out a nationwide casting call to find one special Iraq War vet for a recurring role on the show.
The role and call is in honor of Veteran's Day, which is Tuesday.

1. i'm watching right now.
I've followed AMC for about 23 years. The storylines are currently pretty bad (is anyone else SICK of superhero Ryan Lavery? They put Kendall in ANOTHER coma? ). I know soaps are supposed to be over-the-top but AMC has managed to make it annoying-over-the-top.

This new storyline featuring a disabled vet as a regular is a stroke of genius. And even better, they cast a real vet for the part. Can't wait to see him! :bounce:

2. Haha
Oh yeah. AMC jumped the shark for me when Tad helped Brooke get away with murder, way back when, but I still watch out of habit, in hopes ...

3. it's a hard habit to break ....
but i'm getting awfully close. Ryan is driving me nuts.
I quit watching for a while after they killed off Dixie, for the 2nd time.

And poor Brooke ... she gets rewarded for years of acting on that soap by disappearing after Dixie's funeral. Maybe she's helping Bobby Martin find his skis in the attic.
