WOW! Did you just hear Bob Schieffer's comment at the end of his show?
He was talking about gov't service must be the worst thing in the world affecting peoples memories. Libby couldn't remember anything, Sr. people at Justice can't remember who they talked to or why they did things. It went on for several minutes, and at the very end he said "you can tell by the smell, and this one STINKS to high heaven! Those responsiblemust be held accountable and they MUST GO!"

26. It's how they operated since 1993, and Schieffer only now decided to notice.
Thanks for not noticing their lies in 2000. 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005, Bob. Your country needed more truth back then when we had the best opportunity to STOP them.

Can't we give a little credit when they actually do their job properly?

Kerry had a major, well developed campaign issue linking these - and both were Bush liabilities.

5. Bob was one of the first to question the chimp way back when his approval
was above 50. He said, "Can anything this administration says be taken at face value?" Sounds small now, but that was when every car had a flag and no member of the chimp's admin suffered any questioning.

Bob must have taken alot of crap back then, and now, he's finally getting vindication.

Bob's a great journalist. I just hope there are some real journalists out there ready to pick up where he'll leave off.

7. Awhile back
I sent him an email and got a personal response. I told him I thought all newsmen had their collective heads up their collective a**es and he was the first one to put his head up his.

The response I got back was one understandably of denial and outrage. I then emailed him back with examples and the response from him then was of, "we'll see who has their head up their a**."

I should email him back with a copy of that initial email and ask him if he'd like a roll of tp now.

But it's too little too late. The media see the Nov results, they see (and knew) the scandals and the trampling of our rights and ONLY when the public ousted the majority in Nov did they deem it necessary to jump on our bandwagon. John Q Public is listening to the Cindy Sheehan's, the Code Pink and all the other organizations, plus they are feeling the pain of losing community members in this war.

Repect? I don't respect anyone. My momma always taught me that respect is earned and not given. Wise woman.

M$M - what a laughable joke they all have become. Now they want us to take them seriously? Howard Kurtz on CNN this morning asked if the media was making too much out of the firings and why the press was hounding the AG. Well, howie you damn fool - I'll tell ya (and I did, I fired off an email to CNN)....YOU'RE ALL WHORES. You may not keep a little black book with names and numbers and preferences, but you are total whores of another nature and you have allowed the general public of this great country to be 'educated' by the likes of Bill O'lielly and faux news.

Heaven forbid if you all would have had enough balls to ask these 'tough' questions 4 years ago. There would have 3200 plus 600,000 Iraqis still alive and who knows what just one of those may have contributed to this world of ours had their life not been cut short.

I think we not only need an entire new government, but we also need to cleanse the ranks of those who are responsible for reporting TRUTH no matter how ugly or politcally 'uncorrect' it may seem at the time. Let us, the American people, decide. Just give us the facts.

So to reiterate Mr Schieffer's remark of it stinking...my only response to him would be, Yep Bobby you're right. You ALL do stink and you all should go.

9. Every comment demanding accountability builds critical mass in
our favor.

Schieffer's included.

I saw now reason to show Schieffer the door in favor of Katie Couric, but then I don't run CBS News.

If I did, Schieffer would still be the anchor.

His Commentaries at the end of his program position news events in ways the average voter might reconsider his or her perspective. And they're valuable for that reason.

Good for Bob Schieffer.

he's someone I trust, he's been a breath of fresh air for a long time, I wish we could clone him and infuse more like him into the MSM. I read his autobiography a while back and found it most interesting.

PS: I stopped watching CBS when they replaced Schieffer with Couric--what a misstep for CBS!

20. Hi, texanshatingbush. (Great screen name, by the way)
Schieffer has been right most of the time on this administration. And the public trusts his voice in a way it never quite trusted Dan Rather's.

Couric's not the worst thing on tv, but I'm with you -- why replace Schieffer for her when he was doing so well? Couric's ratings are way down from Schieffer's, and the news isn't nearly as good.

10. Though I think BS is a better journalist than many of his colleagues,
I lost all respect for him when I saw him on television, on the steps of some D.C. building, with a hot-off-the-presses Starr report, riffling through it to find and paraphrase the salacious bits. That disgusted me.

53. Oh, he had to report it.
He didn't have to report in quite that way, however.

His report, like everyone else's, was not about possible crimes but about whatever he could find in the SR that sounded "dirty" (and the "dirty" stuff was not a crime). Watching him try to find a way to describe the titillating bits in a way that wouldn't provoke an FCC fine was painful. I was embarrassed for him. I also saw him as I saw the rest of the press: water carrier for malicious people. Starr made sure his report was GOP porn, so that all that non-criminal information on Clinton would get out to the general public and (he hoped) fatally wound Clinton.

14. There MUST be accountability.
We can't just abandon that, as a country, as a people, just say, "oh well" and allow it to go unchalleneged.

We can't just let it go by, justice, accountablility, is paramount in a just society.

Didn't see the comment, thanks for th relay though. Glad to hear something like that was just said to a national audience.

They are fitting. And they came from someone who usually does their bidding of obfuscating and defending the right wing. I think we should even give him credit for the words. He only gets 1/2 hour on Sunday morning with a lot of competition. Let's elevate the truth.

He doesn't mince words when he is confronting this misadministration.

I think we have to realize that we are going to have to take the good with the bad. Yes, I get discouraged when someone who has previously been right-on seems to back track, but other than emailing them, there isn't much I can do. So, I just thank then when they "get it right".

Shieffer has "gotten it right" several times.
