What's this estimate of the police that there were only 500-700 there?

I was there! We had at least 1,000 there; it looked like 2,000 to me!

1. Most cops . . .
. . . don't count so well.

They shot a 13 year-old boy over fifty times, here in KC, a few years back.

Just be glad that you and your patriot friends are safe, and ready to go again.

:patriot:

2. Here is a piece of trivia for you though
San Diego PD does not count bodies. They just don't do it

So the official count has been for years in the hands of the organizers.

How they cound changes from organizatiion to organization

SDPD only function at these things is to keep oposing groups ahem, separate and on oposing sides of the street.

And I will add this, they are quite laid back about it, but effective

5. I'm truly glad they are laid back there.
Sanity in cops is a good thing.

7. The San Diego police WERE very nice.
That is except for Old Sourpuss. I see him at every march - semi-annually at least. I always flash him a peace sign as he goes by on his police motorcycle. Then, his face looks pained, almost as if he hates peace or something. I picture his supervisor, with a sense of humor, thinking to himself, "Old Sourpuss really needs to get out more. He can do protest duty."

14. Sanity in Cops is a good thing and San Diego is about to lose some good ones.
Our good, experienced Policemen in San Diego are leaving for other cities because they can get better, pay,
benefits & treatment, elsewhere. The result is that our neighborhoods suffer because crime is increasing. &
our City doesn't have enough officers to patrol our streets. The City talks about training new policemen to
replace those who have left, many of whom will wash out in the first two years, and it all will wind up
costing more than if they just paid the officers a decent wage to begin with.

And next time you're marching in San Diego for any cause, the officers might not be as experienced at
keeping things peaceful as you'd like. Think about it.

16. Yes, I'm sad when I think about what is happening down there ..
in terms of the budget. I have repeatedly read about how we are losing good police officers. I live in Murrieta, about an hour and one half north of San Diego - inland. I have written emails in support of the officers, but, not being a constituent, I'm not sure I'm helping any.

8. That's great!
Good for you and her.

Brings back a memory . . .

When MLK Jr. was killed, there was a long march from midtown KC to the Courthouse downtown. My father was among the few white protestors there, in solidarity with the black folks. He wanted to take me (age 9), but my mother said "No way!" The cops were just too scary for her to even consider it. I wish I could've gone, tho . . .

9. What a great story! I'm sorry you weren't able to go.
BUT ... my hubby and I consider the locations of the various events, and whether or not we think that things will be relatively safe.

Be proud of your father - what a great thing to do!

3. Kudos and laurel wreaths to all peace protestors! I love you! And I don't care if your were one or
one thousand. It doesn't matter. Protests in the cause of justice ripple through the universe.

And I hope that there was at least one sign in the San Diego protest that said: "HAND-COUNTED PAPER BALLOTS!" or "Throw Diebold election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW! (or 'San Diego Harbor' will do!)".

Cuz this is the PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION of the will of the people that we need: Count every vote! Get rid of the secret code! Purge the rightwing Bushite electronic voting corporations from our election system!

One more thing: Don't worry about the "MSM" and their shitty little tactics to marginalize the SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT of the American people who want this war stopped. WE are "the mainstream." Not them.

My love to you all!

6. Thanks for your kind sentiments. I think that someone did carry a sign like that!
And I told the people in the cars passing by, "Make your vote count!" and "Write your representatives!"
