WASHINGTON — Rep. Steve Kagen is the only Wisconsin lawmaker, besides the bill's author, on record in support of a $124 billion supplemental spending bill calling for withdrawal of all troops from Iraq by September 2008.
"I cannot find anyone in my district who wants to spend more money in Iraq," Kagen, D-Appleton, said Friday of the bill authored by Rep. David Obey, D-Wausau. "(The bill's) got in it the three things I was looking for."
Kagen said in a telephone interview he wanted a plan that provides enough money to support the troops while they train, deploy and return as well as one that holds the administration accountable and changes the direction of the war.
