Here it is in living color, a half page photograph on the front page of the Arizona Republic’s “Viewpoints” depicting “four American soldiers in full intimidating battle gear around the periphery of a Baghdad living room. In the center on a carpeted floor, lies a collapsed woman in a traditional black dress.

“A man, identified as her son, is holding her in his arms. His feet are bare, as if he were caught by surprise. But, what arrests the eye is the look of horror and terror on his face as he looks up at an armed gesticulating soldier. Two soldiers have taken the liberty of making themselves at home on a chair and sofa.”

The caption tell us only that the mother has fainted when her son was questioned.

If this is a case of innocent Iraqis getting manhandled by joe's I'll be the first one to scream bloody murder......If the picture is suspected insurgents getting their house searched, I'll gripe about the laxness of the troops conducting the search.......These guys aint following AIDS........

box with a red X will appear, letting the reader know a picture is SUPPOSED to be linked there, but isn't. You can right click on it, get the URL and go directly to the site to view the picture, just in case it's not linking properly to this format.

I can't tell from the OP whether there is even a photo linked - I'm not seeing any code.

However it is unknown what the context of the picture is. If this is just some joe's being assholes then the OP is correct and it is an outrage. If the people have done nothing wrong, I treat them with the utmost respect when I enter their homes whenever I am in Iraq.........

If however the people in the picture are suspected insurgents being raided, then the soldiers are being friendlier than I have been in similar situations. I would have zip cuffed them and had an armed guard over them..............

Feel towards me however you will. The context of the picture is unknown so I can't judge anyone.

Do you know what the context is, can you direct me to the reason the soldiers were inside the house??

I've been to Iraq twice, going back in November, there are many reasons to enter an Iraqis house. Some of them are bullshit and deserve a reprimand from the chain of command, others are valid reasons that entail harsh treatment of the people inside the house. If someone is caught with IED making material we treat them harshly............I can't say whether or not this family did anything wrong as there is no explanation in this thread......Therefore I can't take either side, I can however try to post a reason why this action is happening. If you can show me the story where the family is either innocent of any wrongdoing or guilty of any wrongdoing, I would appreciate it. Otherwise it is simple kneejerking to take either side from this picture.......(which none of us can see)

So please don't personally insult me, I don't think it is appropriate........

26. I finished my degree from UT

when I was stationed at Fort Hood......I only had one semester left so I reenlisted for a program the army used to run before 9/11........If you reenlisted you could go to school for one semester only needing to check in for PT formations and accountability formations on Friday afternoons.......Man I loved my time at UT.........
