Report from the March on the Pentagon
Edited on Mon Mar-19-07 07:48 AM by demnan
Over the weekend I posted my comments on the march:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=438332&mesg_id=438332

Here is what a good writer who walked with me had to say:

Dear Friends:

Yesterday at the march we met two women who had been attacked by the
Gathering of the Eagles thugs who were ostensibly protecting the war memorials from
the peace protestors. One of the women, age 65, had her arm wrenched behind
her back while the other was thrown to the ground (she showed us her bloody
leg) and her peace sign ripped up. Then today I read in the Washington Post
that the Gathering of the Eagles was so worried about attacks from protestors
that they had hired private security, which was exactly what I thought of when
the two women recounted the attack. It dawned on me that this is how Iraqi
civilians are treated by Blackwater mercenaries, who may have actually been the
private security that assaulted these two women. Worst of all, the women
said that DC police looked on while they were attacked and did nothing.

We know that the Bush administration formed a layer of intelligence
gathering to come up with information needed to start a war. Now we see that they
also have a private Army, paid for by our tax dollars, I might add. We are being
denied our right to peacefully assemble and our right of free speech. Our
own government has declared war on its citizens and that is something that
everyone needs to be concerned about.

2. I Find It Amazing
that people are "pro war." Where is their shame? How anybody can be pro killing, pro violence, pro destruction, etc., is beyond my way of thinking.

3. That's not the best way
Just stay out there in the streets. Keep walking for peace!
