Thanks to Duer who referred to it. I excerpted the dates and happenings to help myself - perhaps someone else whose head is blurring trying to keep all the Attorneys straight might be helped. The Lam firing is probably number 1 in culpability? But that's debatable - they really messed up.
May 2005 - Lam prosecutes Rusty Duke Cunningham
May 8 2006 - Foggo resigns as Deupty Director of the CIA – nbr 3 man.
May 10 - Lam notified the Justice Dept that she planned to serve search warrants on Foggo. (Who she notified is not known – assumed to be Michael Battle who resigned March 5, 07 – he was the person who notified the Atty’s that they were fired.)
May 11, 2006 - (WH) Sampson (now resigned) sends e-mail to WH Deputy Counsel Kelley about a problem with Carol Lam. Suggests they have someone ready to take her place when her term expires in the coming November (11-18)
May 11 2006 - LAT publishes article saying Cunningham case (tried by Lam) being expanded to look into CA Rep. Jerry Lewis
May 12 2006 - FBI enters Foggo’s office and seizes records
(November of 2006? Lam fired.)
From article:
“Last week, the Justice Department released e-mails showing that loyalty to President Bush and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was among the criteria used to judge U.S. attorneys' performance and that Rove and former White House counsel Harriet Miers were deeply involved in discussions leading up to the dismissals.”
U.S. attorney's firing may be connected to CIA corruption probe

Looks like there will be plenty of work for lawyers in Washington and California.
