I do have broadband, so that's not the problem but I'm used to quickly scanning a story before bothering to read it to see if it looks worth taking the time to read.
With a video you have to sit through a commercial and then watch quite a bit before seeing if it is worthwhile. I do like having the option of doing video but I think it is a poor replacement for the written word when it comes to getting a lot of information accurately and quickly.

1. Yes. They are annoying. |
|
My tendency is to not click them. CNN is the worst offender.

CNN has far too many video-only stories now. I like having video available as an adjunct to a news story I can read, but when it's video-only, I almost never click on them anymore.

5. It's the MSM at work -- the goal is to give as little information as |
|
possible in as much time as possible -- just like on TV when they list the 'top five stories' and then run every bullshit story they have before they finally mention the one you were hanging on to see, only to find out it was really about Anna Nicole Smith.

6. I completely agree with everyone... |

It is very annoying when stories are posted exclusively in video format. I have said that conversation is a dying art. Pray that reading and comprehension from doing so will not go the same way! Perhaps the two are connected?

Sometimes they seem interesting and I wish for a print version. I don't want to watch videos while taking a break at work for 5-6 hours.

12. Yes, but for a different reason. |
|
I can't hear. Most stations on tv (which I rarely watch) have closed captioning so that's ok, but videos posted here with just the link I don't even bother. And won't until someone figures out a way to turn on closed captioning for computer operating systems that support video.

13. I get frustrated with video and also with people who post an interesting |
|
subject title and then only post a link. My feeble dialup makes jumping even to links a pain in the ass. I don't have the time or patience to deal with them. If people want their message out they will have to accomodate those of us who are already experiencing the problems of a non neutral net.
