Is there anything left of our government that isn't corrupted, outsourced, or broken?
Just scanning the threads this morning and the 'news', we learned of more problems. I say that we can write-off OSHA, EPA, the VA, the Justice Department, FCC, SEC, the Labor Department, FEMA, Homeland Security, EEOC, etc. Even the US Military may be in a 'death spiral'. What has been corrupted by the appointment ideologues instead of experienced, dedicated people, has been 'contracted out' to profit seekers. What ever happened to a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. All of our tax dollars are going to support a continuous buildup of 'law enforcement', the DEA's war on drugs, and the advancement of the American empire for 'American interests'. Am I the only person here who doesn't believe we can recover our country?

5. That they've done with far too many willing accomplices and enablers: the 30% hard-core
supporters must hate America for they've played a big part in destroying it fiscally, economically, militarily, infrastructure-wise, internationally, and domestically.

7. They've done all that and tens of millions approve/don't get it/don't care or
otherwise they would not support, lock-step, and/or enable.

and as long as bushco reigns over the land, the corruption will continue. Once the national 'cancer' has been removed, the USA may be able to put the insurmountable damage caused by bushco into remission.

4. YES Those agencies that are INCOMPETENT
Ones that don't quite rise to the level of BROKEN, but are
so incompetently run, or run based on policies that are
directly opposed to what they are supposed to be doing.

like HUD. cripes I'm sick of working for an agency that hates poor people
and doesn't want to give them any housing assistance.

11. No, you're not the only person who thinks that we
Edited on Mon Mar-19-07 11:13 AM by Cerridwen
can't recover our country. I agree that we can't return our country to the way in which we think it operated prior to 2000. We have to look far back in our history to find the first time it diverged from the path we are taught in school is its path. I'm sure I'm not the only one who believes government's role is to work *of by, and for* We, the People rather than *of, by, for and with* robber barons, industrialists, business, and corporations. Until We, the People can think in ways in which we can co-exist without the constant interference and perversions of corporatist influences, I'm afraid we're quite screwn. I see some understanding of that, but I'm not yet sure if people have yet moved beyond the "WTF?! do you mean corporations write policy?!" to "how the hell do we get them out?!"

Perhaps if we can move beyond the "discovery phase" to the "we're going to replace/convert it phase" we'll create what we thought the Founders had intended rather than what we've been "educated" to believe.

edit to add: I think it's going to require a new way of thinking.
