Kay bailey hutchinson(R) says that they lost even though we have a good economy...
and that they will win because they will convince the american people how good the economy really is. Why did they really lose? They seem to think that it is all because of Iraq. I think they lost due to a multitude of their policies and they are nuts. I saw hannity last night and he had some former offical from cuba who stated that Cuba now has WMD and that they are planning to use them against america. Next target Cuba...While I was listening I was wondering how much they paid him...

1. I caught that while I was surfing
on hannity. Insane. I just shook my head and said to myself, "Oh, so now we're supposed to be afraid of Cuba. They're bringing the fight over here!!!"

Ugh.

3. I also saw something about them on another station...
talking about how they are in Colombia getting training or something related to that to fight drugs. Didn't Columbia have something to do with the Iran contra scandal...

2. if the economy is "good"
then the american people would know it and wouldn't need convincing.

14. Yeah, well if I had the money (and mentality) of KBH...
I would think things were just hunky dory with the economy too. Everything's coming up roses and all that!

But that's why they are Republics... rich and ignorant! :puke:

9. Exactly. The average citizen knows damn well the economy is in the crapper.
And all of the spin and number-twisting isn't convincing
the public of anything except that they are being LIED to.

They wanna run on the ECONOMY? Let 'em! That's another
bullet they are aiming directly at their foot.

10. They get away with it because the MSM has their money...
involved in the stocks and as long as it is going well, its all good. A few weeks ago when it started to drop they were coming out of the woodworks to tell their stockholders not to sell and how good it really is..

7. what is the ecnomic term for the type of inflation we are experiencing
where sometimes stocks appear to do well, and more importantly prices of goods increase without wealth increasing.

I guess you could call it Reaganomics, lol, but is there an actual term? Where prices go up, but the average consumer doesn't have more money?

Becasue I really think that is what we have been experiencing.

Of course, the only reason it even seems the economy is good is becasue the stock market is better now than it has been under Bush. But he set the bar pretty low.

8. BFEE + Cuba:
KEVIN PHILLIPS: George H. Walker was a real piece of work. I mean, he was a buccaneer. He was sort of a Joe Kennedy, but with a social register type qualification. He got involved in the 1920's with a bunch of Cuban companies, because of his ties to Percy Rockefeller and the National City Bank. They handled a lot of investments in Cuba. He was a director during the 1920's of eight or nine Cuban companies. George H. Walker had ties to the -- investment ties that were independent, so he had invested in some of these companies. One of them turned out several -- several turned out to merge into something called West Indies Sugar. West Indies Sugar became one of the major American companies in Cuba, and George H. Walker Jr., the son of George H. Walker and Prescott, Bush's cousin was a director, held a family seat on West Indies Sugar. Now during the late 1950's, West Indies Sugar was based in the Indy province in Cuba. That's where the Castro insurgency was developing. Castro and his people sort of shook down West Indies Sugar. They used their trucks and hit them up for money and so forth. They were unhappy with the Castro movement. In 1959 or 1960, I forget which year, Castro's people nationalized West Indies Sugar, and at this time George H. W. Bush's uncle was Director of West Indies Sugar. The value of West Indies sugar had been about $50 million and it wound up being virtually peanuts. I don't know how much their stake was. I couldn't begin to guess. It may not have been nearly as much as one would suggest from the bigger numbers. They were an unhappy set of campers when West Indies Sugar went bye-bye.

13. They won't stop the sanctions on Cuba because...
they want to take it over. I also heard hannity say that if castro dies his brother will take over and it will be worse and they will attack... I expect this to be one of their next strategies to take the focus off of Iraq and other problems. They are causing problems all over the map and many we don't know of yet...

11. When a mountain of bills is staring you in the face, no amount
of GOPer propaganda is going to make you believe the economy is great.
