Roll Call: Rove as witness on Hill would be 'standing room only'event RAW STORY
Published: Monday March 19, 2007

The spectacle of White House adviser Karl Rove testifying under oath to Congress regarding the US attorney firings would be a "standing room only" event, a Capitol Hill newspaper reports.

A former assistant attorney general under President Reagan, Charles Cooper, believes that it would be “extraordinary" if the White House permits Rove to testify. “I don’t think it’s going to happen because I think the president is going to react very negatively,” Cooper told Roll Call. The president has a “very serious attitude towards ... protecting the prerogatives and dignity of his office.”

Excerpts from Roll Call article:

Rove — one of Bush’s closest allies and friends — never has testified before Congress and it is unclear under what circumstances, if any, he would testify, even as his role in the U.S. attorneys scandal widens. Media reports last week revealed Rove asked about the firings of U.S. attorneys in January 2005, long before he previously was thought to be involved.

Calls, even among Republicans, for the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales got louder last week as documents were dumped revealing a coordinated campaign between the Justice Department and the White House to oust prosecutors based on political loyalty. Under the circumstances, attorney Stanley Brand of the Brand Law Group said it was “very likely” that Rove would end up providing testimony. “I think they don’t want to be subpoenaed, and they’re on the wrong side of this one,” Brand said. “They’re getting killed over this.

“I think they’ll work it out, and I think he’ll show up,” Brand said of Rove.

3. Anybody got a list of the Clinton White House personnel that was
hauled before Congress? I mean there were hundreds of hours devoted to Travel Office personnel and Christmas card lists, not to mention Vince Foster, Whitewater, blue dresses, and blow jobs. Not one single issue that affected national security, or the Constitution, but it didn't stop the Repubics from subpoenaing anybody and everybody - including many political appointees, the Secret Service, cooks, valets, and the dog groomer.

The Repubics weren't too concerned about the dignity of the White House then and if the Dems don't repeat that loud, long and often while KKKarl and Chucklenuts fight this I'm gonna be pissed. Karma is a bitch and the Repubics need to be bitch slapped - hard.

4. They dragged the President out of the White House
to grill him. Now that was truly dignified. Sam Seder made a great point about Clinton's testimony.

If Clinton told the truth nothing would have happened.
If libby told the truth, cheney would be on trial.

7. He's quite the buckeroo isn't he
He's hated around the world. He has no dignity. He's not a christian. He didn't serve his country honorably. He's a liar and a corporate criminal. He couldn't hold a job at McDonalds but "conservatives" respect him which only is a testament to their judgement.
