Vote for Katie Couric's next intern (no joke)
CBS News is partnering with CBS Interactive to launch a contest for its next intern. Both undergrad and graduate student journalists are eligible to enter by uploading news copy or video to Springboard, a site launched specifically for the contest.

CBSNews.com and CBS News journalists will choose entries to share on the site and allow other students to comment on the contenders. From the pool, CBS will choose one student to be a full-time unpaid 2007 summer intern for the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. Students must be from U-Wire schools, schools that subscribe to the free U-Wire news service for colleges, in order to participate.>>>> http://news.com.com/2110-1025_3-6168450.html?part=rss&tag=2547-1_3-0-5&subj=news

2. If they want ratings, they might try acting like a News Organization
again. It would actually shock enough people to tune in

5. Full-time UNPAID summer intern?. . .
In New York? The least they could do is give 'em cabfare. No, I take that back -- they are doing "the least they can do."

Disclaimer: I've had summer interns each of the past few summers, and expect to have them in the future, and though I don't pay them as well as the freelancers I use, I pay them much better than they could get at most other jobs.

6. sounds like the kind of stunt a morning show would do, but not an evening news cast!

Edit...when CBS fired Dan Rather I removed them from my channel zapper!

I'd watched CBS news since I was a kid, but I haven't watched since they fired Dan.

8. Is Roseanne available?

She could start off each evening news broadcast with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem. :eyes: :eyes:

9. they should take "news" out of the title of the show
goes beyond info-tainment to just plain silliness. i am so sick and tierd of "news" programs that send more time reporting on themselves than what is going on in the world -- let alone doing any actual investigating of a story....

10. Of course it is an "unpaid" job if anyone caught that.
they can hardly afford to pay a college student to wipe Katie's ass and shine her shoes.
